Mmmm ... pizza

So because the Cowboys won and scored over 20 points, I got a half-off pizza from Papa John's.

I needed it after the day I've had, where both professors I have talked to and myself had trouble figuring out how to get SPSS to do what I need it to do and then the third prof who is actually over this class (the other two are stats guys, which is why I ask them for SPSS help - it's a statistics analysis program, kinda like Excel on steroids) suggested something so simple it might just work and make us all feel kinda dumb (or at least myself, since, y'know I have first-hand knowledge of what's going on whereas the stats profs get a quick explanation of what I want to do).

And then right as I finally got home after work to take Catara to the vet for a wellness check and managed to get her in the damn car, my car wouldn't start. I tried to get a jump and the girl who helped me said my starter wasn't turning. I called the guys who fixed it last Thursday (timing belt was worn, so they replaced it w a kit including timing belt, shaft belt, and water pump to my knowledge) and they said they'd send someone to come try and start it for me in 30 mins ... or so I heard. After an hour went by, I called again and they said they were waiting for me to call them back in about 30 mins after the initial call to figure out exactly where I live (which is kinda hidden-ish granted, but is less than a mile down the street from them. COME ON! How have you not heard of an apt. complex that close to your car-fixing business? It's not exactly a new complex either). Pretty much they came over to tell me it was DEFINITELY that I needed a new starter. Asked how much it would cost and they said $300-$400, maybe cheaper depending on cost of the part. So add that on to the $712 for the kit last Thursday. Shoulda said something when my car was starting funny after getting it back.

Anyway, some good news was getting Catara's wellness check taken care of by rescheduling the appointment for later and getting a ride. Then I hit the gym after actually walking to it for the first time in forever. Apparently, I only walk about 7,000 steps to cover about a mile and a half, according to my pedometer. Huh. I thought the trek there and back was about 3 miles and gave me close to my 15,000 step goal. Maybe it's cause I wasn't wearing the pedometer before later, but I doubt my office job cardio did much at all.

I should have known that 55-14 Packers win over the Bears that had me smiling from ear-to-ear last night after an unusually productive weekend (got my paper for Wednesday and my editorial done way early) had to lead to some proverbial storm clouds at some point (still no storm clouds here in East Texas by the way, just randomly gets cold at night with still-clear skies.) But hey, I got a lot done and got half-off pizza, so that's something. Not gonna let it get me down, especially since I still have money for the car even after paying my credit card. Need to look at loans again, but for now I'll be alright.

Yin and yang, man.

yeah we have that same Papa John's deal for the Cardinals here, and they always win, so we're always getting discounts.

Sorry to hear about your car.  I like your cat's name though.

Yeah, we always got it for when the Texas Rangers won with 7 points or more (Rangers7). We got A LOT of pizza. Felt like every other day at one point.

Yeah, my car sucks, but I like my cat's name too. Turning K into C is exactly what I did with my past cat when I was younger. I got tired of adults asking if his name was inspired by MASH, which it wasn't. He was just a lil' clinger so I named him that but with a K cause I thought it was cooler (I was 9 and it was the 90s, y'know). With Catara, I totally did base her name off the Last Airbender character Katara (came in a box that said refrigerate upon arrival, ergo waterbender), but I like that "cat" is now in her name. lol

Eagles win again this Monday and I'm really getting excited for their game with the Cowboys on Thanksgiving. Too bad Nick Foles is probably not going to start, but Sanchez is doing alright so far.

I'm excited for it too. Should be a good game. As long as we have Romo anyway. I honestly don't think Weeden's as bad as his performance was against the Cardinals, but if it's him vs. Sanchez, I don't like or really know the odds. Whereas Romo vs. either one would be a good game.

I think they are pretty evenly matched which is why it's going to be a great game.

That quote seems excessive to me for a starter. Might want to get a second opinion. Just my two cents.

He was doing it off the top of his head, so yeah, it could be high. I'll be sure to get a second opinion.

Ouch man. I just don't know what else to say after moments like that.

Usually that's when I just go back home, put in a violent game and release some pent up frustrations about the world.

;Glad it's over.

Damn man, that really sucks about your car. Hopefully this is the last thing that needs to be fixed. I would be fuming with the folks who fixed your car. The bright side is half off on Pizza. Pizza sounds good, I must need to eat some breakfast. Dude I'm watching the SFA game right now, and UNI guy just traveled. WOW.

Was this the travel leading into overtime? Yeah, my friend is the sports editor for the on-campus paper and asked coach my question about why there was open lane for UNI in the first half on a few plays. Basically, it comes down to these guys needing to play together more, having lost three key players (including the four-point play guy that led us to the OT win against VCU last year, Dez, who was on the sidelines with them in a suit, but not sure his position; my old friend Kyle is Assistant Director of Media Relations for media athletics though, saw him on sidelines handling stats; name dropping).

Anyway, they played well, but I definitely saw some odd passes along with the awesome steals. Disappointed with the outcome, but the Jacks still look good I think.

Also, more name dropping: I was the Assistant Hall Director for both Jacob Parker and Thomas Walkup when they lived on first floor of Lumberjack Landing. Six degrees of people I know but don't often talk to now. Yup. Cool
