No real blog. Just a track I'm obsessed with at the moment. When it explodes around 1:27 it gives me shivers. Great pop song and not as the visuals might indicate a country song. :)

looks country to me, man!  Tongue Out

I've heard of this band before.  I wonder if my ex "friends" knew them or something.

They've been around since 2003 apparently. I heard the track on Sirius XMU going home yesterday and it's been stuck in my head ever since.

Oh and they are from Baltimore. This track is taken from their latest album Singles which was released in March of this year.

yeah I remember Dan Deacon.  We stayed at his house on tour, and played at a show he did.  He was on shrooms.

It's crazy how big this band is getting.  They're originally from my neck of the woods (North Carolina).  I saw them at a local bar back when they were Art Lord and his Self-Portraits and enjoyed the show.  We went to see them because my now-wife grew up with and dated one of the guys in the band (and actually just broke up with him like 6 months before I met her).

I haven't really listened to them too much lately, but I've been meaning to.  They've been on a few late-night shows recently.  From what I've heard I like them okay, but not as much as their previous band.  I'll have to check this song out when I get home.

It's very catchy and really kicks in around the 1.27 minute mark. I liked it instantly which usually means I'll burn out on it quickly but for now it's enjoyable.

That's the way I typically am with music too.  If I really like something on first listen then it's usually not something I listen to for long before losing interest.  Most of my favorite bands are ones where I wasn't sure how I felt about them after the first (and probably second) listen.

That's exactly how I am too.

Hmm. Different. Not what I tend to listen to, but not bad.

I have pretty eclectic tastes when it comes to music I'm drawn to a lot of different artists but mostly when I can feel the passion of the artist particularly in the vocal department.

mmmmmmmmmm.

Not bad but I hae to admit it's not my thing. Thanks for sharing though.

Was thinking Kraftwerk at the begining (yes!), but now, when the singing started, I'm thinking of any one of a number of 80's synth bands (meh).

I think it's the vocal that I like and as I said the way it starts going full tilt after the first minute and a half.

I actually like a bunch of 80's synth bands. Not like Flock of Beagles but bands like Ultravox, Visage, British Electric Foundation, Gary Numan, John Foxx, Classix Nouveaux, Fashion, and early Human League before the girls joined and they became a dance band.

You get the hell off Flock of Beagles' collective nutsacks. "I ran (Cause the sign said No Dogs Allowed)" is a national treasure.

LOL. I saw them open for someone, can't remember who. They were AWFUL.

That sucks, cause joking aside, I love Flock of Seagulls' recorded stuff. Or is it that you don't like "I Ran" etc. to start with?

mothman

I Ran got played to death back when it was current and while I'm not sure I ever really loved it I am sure that I grew to hate it. In concert though they were all funny hair and no skills. They could barely play live.

I do like Gary Numan especially when I saw them on Old Grey Whistle Test as Gary Numan and the Tubway Army. They did "Are friend's electric?".

mothman

11/15/2014 at 11:38 AM

Tubeway Army was when I first started listening to Numan. Yes, "Are Friends Electric" is one of his as is "Down in the Park" which was covered by Foo Fighters and is also excellent. I think he was obsessed by a post apocalyptic world full of robots.

I'd really like to get all those albums.

Heard this a few times before, but it's only now that I know who did it and the name.

I like it a lot. I'm becoming a fan of Synthpop and New Wave, so I dig this kind of synth stuff.

It's funny but I'd heard it a bunch of times before without knowing who it was. Then it came on Sirius the other day in the new car and I could see the info right on  the screen. I cranked it. Great driving tune.
