You may or may not remember that back in 2011 that a little teaser trailer for a game called Tenkuu no Kishi Rodea or as we know it... Rodea: The Sky Soldier was shown at Nintendo's E3 for the Nintendo Wii and 3DS. This game was developed by Yuji Naka famous for Sonic, NiGHTS, and founding his own studio Prope and being published by Kadokawa who also failed to release another great Wii game Earth Seeker stateside, but that is more of a fault in Kadokawa having no American branch. That and another problem with Rodea is that is was released so late in the Wii's life cycle. The Wii U was on it's way in 2012 and the last few notable games to come out for it were Pandora's Tower and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.
So, when the Wii was tossed aside so were many fans hopes to see Rodea The Sky Soldier. I was certainly a buyer. The trailer was great. A sort of rail shooter similar to NiGHTS. For the Wii version, gameplay would consist of controlling the game's protagonist Rodea by aiming with the Wii Remote at solid objects and pressing the B button to have Rodea fly in parabolic arcs. The game had been finished. The Wii version and 3DS versions were completed by Prope which had been stuck in publishment hell. Speculation was rampant. Would they only release the 3DS version and scrap the Wii version all together? Would the Wii version be reworked into a Wii U game? Well after 3 long years with no word Japanese magazin Famitsu dropped a bombshell.
It's coming after all! Yes I realize it's slated for a Japan only spring 2015 release, but first print release copies are going to have the unreleased Wii version. So if you were one of those people who got a Japanese Wii or used other means this is fantastic news to collect that dust covered Wii out from storage. But perhaps Nintendo or heck Xseed who expressed interest in releasing the game so long ago can publish it stateside. That and Fatal Frame V of course.
And above is the trailer for those who don't remember. Anyways I'm excited this game is seeing the light of day after all. What are your thoughts? Comments and feedback are always greatly appreciated!
Thanks for posting the Youtube video, I needed Windows Media Player for the other one for some reason (why I don't have that automatically when my laptop runs Windows 8.1 I don't know).
Never heard of this, but it put me in a dream like state with its visuals and music. I mean I was already tired, but this calmed me, ya dig?
