I'm hoping to grab the Definitive Edition on Steam either on the holiday sales or another along the lines.
Finished Sleeping Dogs

Finished it last night sooner than I meant to. I accidentally started the last story mission before I was ready to, and didn't have a back up save from before the start of the mission. Oops.
I can't remember offhand how many hours I spent on this game, but it was a pretty sizable chunk, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I can go back and replay missions and races and finish up open world stuff, but I think it may be time to move on. I really enjoyed the story, and it may be the only open world game that has really pulled me in and not made me feel overwhelmed. None of the races were impossible (as long as you figured out which vehicle work best, but not too bad, as I was trying to collect all the vehicles anyway), and it wasn't always the fastest car you wanted, but the one that handled best. There's one race that goes done this really twisty mountain road, and the fastest car really wasn't my friend there. I had fun hijacking armored cars (the better part of my bank account was ill-gotten gains from this), running over parking meters, and blowing red lights. I initially was getting my ass kicked doing the Drug Bust missions by thugs with guns, because I didn't always have a weapon and there wasn't always one available in whichever location I happened to be in, but once you earn enough cop upgrades, weapons can be found in the trunks of cop cars. I started stealing or hijacking cop cars, eluding any pursuit, and then driving to the drug bust I needed to clear out, grabbing the shotgun from the trunk, and easy-peasy! Dead thugs!
I eventually found all the collectibles. And that brings me to another thing about the game that I really liked. If you did the dating side missions, you'd get rewarded with more and more of the collectibles showing up on your map. I knew they showed up on the mini map, but what I didn't realize until almost the end of the game and I was looking for the last seven or so lockboxes, is that they show up on the big map, too, if you toggle the collectibles button. I thought it was just the ones you'd already found, until I hovered over a couple and realized that they were all on there and that some of them were grey instead of white. Facepalm time, and then a quick mop up of the remaining lockboxes for a couple of easy achievements.
Much as I enjoyed the rest of the game, the gambling mini games and the karaoke mini game weren't all that much fun. I did get the achievement for getting above 90% on all the karaoke songs, but luckily there really weren't all that many and the game seemed to be fairly forgiving. It just felt tacked on. The gambling mini games weren't explained very well. Luckily, one of them was just poker played with mah jong tiles and not that difficult to figure out, but the cockfighting one was terrible. I'm still not sure if I was actually controlling the rooster or if it was all random. I got lucky and managed to get both cockfighting achievements before I lost too much money.
There were some annoying bugs and glitches, too, one of which froze my 360, thus causing me to lose a lot of progress. A couple of others, I got stuck under a stairwell, trapped in a parking garage, and one of my cars got stuck half in, half out of a parking garage. The car getting stuck was only mildly annoying, the others caused me to have to exit the game and go back in, again, resulting in loss of progress.
All in all, I got a lot of enjoyment out of a free game that I didn't expect to like. I think I'd like to see a sequel some day.
