Want to play original Metal Gear Solid

Hey gang!

Quick question I'm hoping someone can help me with...

So I've been in the biggest mood to play the first Metal Gear Solid again lately. I'm willing to pay for it again for easy access but I don't really want to set up my PS3 again. I read that there's a trick to get it working on the Vita via the PSN and am wondering if anyone knows what to do. I've my PS4 set up also but I don't think there's an option to play it there.

Any tips??

Cheers!

Unfortunately, I have no idea, but I liked Twin Snakes on Gamecube well enough. It's not the original though.

I've always wanted to check out Twin Snakes but only one of my friends ever had a Gamecube.

You have to transfer the file from the PS3 to the Vita.  I was looking g for a way to do it from  PC, but was having issues.

there was a random weekend months ago that all the PSOne Classice were available to download because of some glitch.  That is when I downloaded MGS to the Vita.

can you do this same thing with Suikoden?

yes, sir.  That is why I also have Suikoden and Crash and Spyro on my Vita.

I did read that so might give that a try even if it means getting the PS3 out for an hour. I've never transferred data that way before but knowing Sony I'm sure it'll be easy (I jest).

I'm assuming you can't purchase MGS on PSN with your PS4 and transfer it to your Vita.  I got MGS off PSN with my PS3 and transfered it to my PSP.

Yeah it's not in the PS4's PSN unfortunately. I really wish the whole cross-buy thing was more widespread.

You kids and your fancy new-fangled toys! Seriously, though, I got nothing for you.

And on a completely unrelated topic... I once spent six weeks in Ireland, and about a week of that was in Co. Kerry. A couple days in Kerry, a few in and around the Dingle Peninsula, and I took a bus tour around the Ring of Kerry (it was pouring, so don't judge!). I stayed in youth hostels and took public transportation everywhere and usually rented a bike to explore. It was beautiful.

That's awesome. If you did the Ring of Kerry, you would have passed through my hometown of Killorglin. However if you blinked, you may have missed it haha. And I would never judge people taking a bus tour when doing the Ring. Some of those roads (especially back towards Dingle) are a disaster. I try to visit Kerry at least once a year to top up my Irishness. My wife and I plan on returning there for good once we get more work experience in Pittsburgh and the Irish economy recovers a bit more. It's true what they say, there's no place like home. I'm glad you liked it.

There's a Dingle Peninsula? Really trying to live up to drunkard stereotypes over there, aren't you?

I kid, I kid! In truth, I'm just jealous you live in a place as cool and good-looking as Ireland.

It's true that the grass is always greener... While I love Ireland, I'd hardly call it "cool". Growing up I wanted to be anything other than stereotypically Irish but I guess that rolls back around as I get older.

I have a few friends who have visited France, Ireland, Italy etc. and they say they expected to like France or Italy the best, but wound up loving Ireland the most. Plus I'm 75% Irish so that makes me biased.

It is definitely true about "grass is always greener" though. When I visited Boston in 2006, I ignored a lot of the shitty things going on and only focused on the positives to conclude it was a flat-out better place than Dallas, TX. But then as I think about it, each has its pluses and minuses. I think I just want there to be a perfect place, even though it doesn't exist, so I trick myself into believing certain places are it.

Beverly Hills... that's where I want to be...

I've never been to Beverly Hills, but I loved L.A. ... because we were on a business trip for my university essentially where we got to meet some key people at Insomniac Games, Warner Bros., L.A. Angels Stadium, etc. ... and in that case I would have to ignore the high prices of everything, the need to buy grocery bags, the inability of servers to split checks, needing cash for every fucking thing when I only ever use card in TX and of course the used couches on the sides of roads.

But L.A. is huge for my line of education and hopefully work and it has its huge pluses.

Sorry but no dice here. I tghougbhgt it would be accessable on tghe vita's PSN network systems.

Yeah it's a shame it wasn't released full blown for Vita

Just started really fiddling with my Vita. It does seem cool to put PS1 games on there. Maybe I'll figure that trick out sometime to, but I know nothing about it right now.

I'm gonna try the PS3 thing and report back. It's a pain to set the console up again but if it works, it works

I think that with PSOne games you can't directly download to Vita, but you have to download to PS3 then use Media Manager on Vita and download/install from PS3. At least that's what I remember doing for PSOne games on my vita like Final Fantasy 8, 9 Xenogears. I'd like to know what you found out so I can play along with you too. Kind of want to do a Metal Gear One Game Club. This would be perfect if I could get it on Vita.

I think you're right in what you're saying. If I ever get up the rush to setup my PS3 again, I'll do it. I wish you could just use the PS4...
