Well Happy Friday Pixelbiticans and in the words of Bruce Buffer IT’S TIIIIIMMMMEEE!!! Hello Weekend, and yes I am excited!
I know the fat cat is usually used with food but damn it fits the weekend right now. I can see you wondering why this weekend is so much better than previous weekends, and the answer is…well nothing. I’m just happy the weekend is here so I can do nothing but sleep and play some games, and maybe sneak in a trip to the local Swapmeet. You good people have anything planned?
Stuff Chris Watched
So I finally sat down and watched The Lego Movie. Thanks HBO! I thought the movie was cute, better than I expected but I don’t think it was as great as people hyped it up to be. I didn’t like Emmitt, as much as others, I actually thought Batman was a scene-stealer. I am interested to see the Batman spin-off and what he builds with black and dark gray pieces.
I started watching old episodes of No Reservations a couple of nights ago on Netflix and got caught up in it. I might have fallen off my Stand Up Comedy phase, and gone back to food shows right before I go to sleep.
Another Cooking Show I’m into is Masterchef Juniors.
A bunch of little kids who could cook circles around me making kick ass food. Once again I would take five of these kids against this season’s Hell’s Kitchen and they would kick their asses!
I caught a bunch of ESPN’s 24 hours of basketball coverage earlier this week. There were some good games and not so good games. NM State and St. Mary’s decided to play as fast as possible without controlling the ball or playing defense.
Super Step’s Stephen F. Austin vs. UNI was a good game. Damn shame they lost at home because that undefeated streak is insane!
My Aztecs played former conference rival Utah, at a 1pm start which is nuts. The student section The Show was loud and proud and unveiled a new pregame banner
From what I heard it was hand painted which is cool. I can’t believe some message board “geniuses” were mad because the top couple of rows in the student section were open. Yeah because some of the kids want to go to class, I swear our fanbase likes to bitch more than actually rooting for the Aztecs. Later on that day SDSU said there was going to be a press conference the next day and most of us thought Coach Steve Fisher was going to announce his retirement. We were scared but it turns out that..
He signed a new 3-year deal. Oh happy day on Montezuma Mesa. The Aztecs are also taking part in Nike’s N7 where they donate money to Native American groups. Teams that are picked to take part get special turquoise uniforms that will be auctioned off at the end of the game
Its nice to see that SDSU gets to participate in this as well as the military game a couple of seasons ago when they played on the USS Midway.
Randoms
So I got the invite to try out Google’s Inbox
…and it’s all hype. I might just leave it on my phone and go back to the default mail app on my phone. I miss the swipe left option to delete unwanted emails. The separation of emails is nice, but other than that it’s the same as my regular email client.
My favorite Yogurtland flavor is back! On Wednesday when I stopped by to try their latest Christmas flavor, I spotted the great Rocket Pop flavor.
I told my friend I would punch anyone in throat if they said this flavor sucked. Granted I could just buy the actual rocket pops but that takes the fun out of filling up a cup of frozen yogurt with this stuff.
In Spider-man Unlimited they are giving the users the vote on who should be the next super unlockable character
I don’t know their names off the top of my head but I voted for the girl only because there aren’t a lot of female characters in the game, and it would be fun to use someone different.
Pickups!
Games
So on Monday I decided to go for it because I kept looking it up online and I bought some games for it while in Arizona.
I used the coin can funds so in all the PS4 cost me $90 out of pocket. I have to say it isn’t a bad deal so I made the jump to the next gen goodies. I type this after playing a good 30 minutes of Need for Speed Rivals…on the PS3.
I bought these games while at a Target in Arizona for $15 each
Yeah I already have Madden 25 on the PS3, so that kinda blows my “I will only buy stuff I don’t have on the PS3” rule but whatever. I’m hoping to tackle Metal Gear this weekend.
I have to admit I played more Madden games using the stream feature on the Vita than on the television. Jeopardy was on and I wanted to play some Madden.
When I bought the PS4 I was debating on a number of games but after talking to an employee who told me about the Black Friday offerings which included a couple of games I wanted I went with a game I know my brother and I could play over the holiday’s.
That’s my BJ Penn action figure holding up the game.
I bought this while getting lunch because I wanted to play some basketball. I’m currently using the New Orleans Pelicans, and I wanted to change the rosters before I started a franchise but either its not in the game or I completely missed it so I’m four games into my season. Oh well.
I bought this game at the Arizona Target as well
I played a little bit of Sonic 2. I can see myself jumping into various games playing a level or two and then saving and playing something else.
Music
Random $3 CD I found in Arizona as well. I haven’t had a chance to listen to it yet, it is on the bottom of my new CDs Playlist on the iPod and I am only around the middle. This playlist will be replaced the minute Thanksgiving Dinner ends with my new Christmas Albums playlist.
Toys
While roaming around Toys R Us on Wednesday to get my walking steps on my app recorded (I usually do it at the Swapmeet, but I didn’t feel like going), I found some interesting stuff. My store was out of the Guardians of the Galaxy Raccoon polybag sets but they had one left of these
The Mikey’s Mini-Shellraiser set. Apparently this was free if you spent $30 on a set, but I bought it separately because it was the last one. There were a ton of the Batwing bags which Target has been selling for months, and some older seasonal stuff like the pumpkin and I think the rocking horse from last season.
In the aisle next to the Lego, which I call the Fake Lego Aisle, is home to all the Kre-O and other building block companies. I wanted to check if the Kre-O GI Joe sets have dropped in price, and I spotted these figures
These are different from the Oyo toys that make the sports figures I have because they are taller than Lego minifigures. It is made by a company named C3, and they make WWE building sets. I thought about buying a couple of those because they’re interesting. Anyways what I was interested in is that they have they blind bags, locker room sets, and a Kobe vs LeBron one on one playset. The latter two have prices but these blind bags did not. After a good five minutes of searching by an employee and her manager they came back at around 6 each. A crazy price but I had a coupon so one of them was free, so I bought two just to check the quality and see if this is something I would want to add to my non Lego building sets.
I got Dirk Nowitzki and Kevin Love. The figures seem solid with every one of them sharing the same body with a claw hand and a basketball hand. The only difference is the hairpiece and the printed on decals.
Well Pixlbit it is the start to my weekend, and I am about to head to the local Walmart to see if they have any copies left of the $30 Watchdogs on PS4. Have a good weekend, apparently it sprinkled here which means STORM WATCH 2014 (Southern California doesn’t handle weather were liquids fall out of the sky very well).
That’s all for now, more later!
