It's spiffy and all, but... Costs more than my monthly rent, and it's not black.

Silly ranger. It's supposed to be the same colour as the original PSX and it has original logo to celebrate the Playstation's 20th Birthday. It it were black it wouldn't make any sense now would it?

I like all my consoles to match. If I can't get black, than I want red, dammit!

Yeah the price is a bit steep but if this was an option for regular PS4s, I would have gone with it over the normal black PS4

I thought it was suppose to be priced at 499.99? It's cool that there releasing it for the 20th anniversary of playstation. It's colored similar to the ps1. I still have my black one and its in good conition so I'll probably pass. I also read it might not be available from the usual retailers. More info will be released at the Playstation Experience event the 6th and 7th of December. I still wish I could have gone, Las Vegas isn't that too bad a drive from Texas.

I think Sony saw that they could make some easy cash off some of their fans and raised the price. I wonder how many of these consoles will be kept sealed. That sounds like a long drive from Texas.

One sold for like 15k apparently off Ebay so Sony didn't get as much as that person.

That is insane especially for something that there are 13k of in the world, but hey if you got that kind of money to burn, more power to ya.

That honestly looks a lot like an XBOX cause of the color scheme. lol

Those are nice, but it does give off an X-Box vibe.

Not going to get it, but the original PlayStation was the first non-Nintendo console I bought.

I'm with you, I am not buying this. If I had the money to burn for this...I'd still have to really think about it.

They did a good job changing the grey color just enough (re:lightening it ... I dunno if lightening is a word, but you know what it means already, so I'd say it's a good candidate for a new word and "twerk" is already in the dictionary) that it actually looked attractive and not as but-ass ugly as the original console. If they ever re-release the SNES, they should follow suit.

I wish they offered the PS4 in the classic Playstation color for the general public. I would have waited to buy that console. I can't believe Twerk is in the dictionary and I can't wait for people 30 years from now to laugh at some of these words. Of course they will have their own set of questionable words as well.

The concept is nice, the price not so much

it's pretty sweet, I think but the price should be cheaper.

I wish this was a general release with the cost of the camera. I would have jumped on it

That's nice.  I wouldn't know it was a 20th anniversary PlayStation except for the small logo though.  Maybe it should have had some kind of graphic on the hard drive cover.  It's nice that there's a matching camera.

I think it would have been interesting if they did add some shadowed image or at least the retro PS logo on the side of the PS4.

Unless it can play PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4 games, it's a waste of money in my opinion. Undecided

I'm one of the few folks who never used the backwards compatibility on a new console. I was never into playing my Playstation games on the PS2.

Really?  Why not?  Can't beat the convenience. Cool

goaztecs

12/09/2014 at 01:45 PM

The convenience is a big plus especially if you don't have the older consoles hooked up to the TV, but I always felt if you bought a new system you played the games made for that system. With that being said I've played old Playstation games on PS2 a couple of times because the original Playstation wasn't connected.

So have I.  I own a lot of systems.  If I can put an older system away to make more room for a newer system that also plays the older system's games, it's a great bonus.  Having all those systems hooked to 1, 2, or 3 tvs can become a big mess. Laughing
