Last night I downloaded the current Games With Gold game. The Raven: Legacy of a Master Thief is a point-and-click murder mystery in three chapters, of which only the first part was free. I played for a bit last night, and honestly, if I'd paid for it, I would have been pissed. Loading times are long, dialogue is cheesey, the characters are not terribly engaging, and it controls terribly. I'm not even sure if I'm going to finish it, to be honest. It's obvious why it was free. The other two chapters are $9.99 apiece, and I sure as heck won't be spending that amount for what isn't a very good game. Color me disappointed in the extreme, as I usually like point-and-clicks. Well, the next game on the 16th is SSX, so hopefully I'll enjoy that one more.
Other games I've been playing are a series of point-and-click survival horror flash games called Deep Sleep, Deeper Sleep, and The Deepest Sleep. They're pretty good. Very short, but that doesn't bother me. The puzzles aren't too hard, the music and sound effects are suitably creepy, and the graphics aren't bad. And they're free. They sort of remind me of The Last Door, but graphics are a bit more modern-looking.
I'm having a hard time getting motivated for Christmas. I'm listening to Christmas music right now to see if that inspires me. So far, not so much. Once I start in on making stuff, that will all change, but it's the getting started part that is difficult.
I'm waiting to hear back about several jobs that I've applied for this week. I really hate the whole move to online applications. I much prefer walking in and talking to someone face-to-face. The room cleaning job at the local Hilton has the most promise, hoping the head of housekeeping calls me back today.
Well, Pixlbit Nation, I'm going to make myself some lunch and then find something constructive to do with the rest of my day. Happy Wednesday!
