Hello Pixlbit and Happy Monday. Before we get started with my ramblings about what I’ve been playing and what not, I’d like to take a minute to talk about the significance of yesterday. If you live in the United States everyone (I hope they do) should know about what happened at Pearl Harbor. Growing up I spent my summers in Hawaii, and I would always try and visit the Arizona Memorial.

It was a fascinating place for me because I didn’t understand the significance of the memorial; I just knew it was a ship that was sunk in Pearl Harbor after an attack. As I grew older I learned more about the situation, the events that lead up to it, and I got to listen to a number of people who survived that attack. I appreciate the stories of the veterans, and my most recent trip to the Memorial, it had more meaning. I do hope if you good people get the chance to go to Hawaii you spend some time at the Arizona Memorial.

Over the past weekend I know some of you probably took in some of the Playstation Experience including the live stream of their Keynote. Let me say that I do love the Playstation platform, but at times that presentation was hard to watch. Sorry Playstation fanboys, but when you have one guy yelling “C’Mon” and another who seemed to be cussing just to cuss, I lost interest. I can’t take you seriously when the crowd doesn’t get excited over your items, or when you try to be hip by throwing out some choice four letter words. Do what Apple and any other companies who have similar presentations and plant employees who go nuts and gets the crowd involved.

As for the actual content there was a lot to be excited over. There were some games I wanted to try including these two games

I need to get in gear and finish off the three Batman games I’ve been playing (two on PS3, one on Vita). So what happened to no kill Batman? His new Batmobile is stuffed with guns.

I’m not a huge Street Fighter fan but this has my interest. If this is a big deal for Sony since it’s “Only on PS4…and PC” there better be a return of the fancy fight controllers

I’m the first to admit that I am not great at Street Fighter but I do like to play it. At some point I really should learn the actual moves of the other characters not named Chun-Li.

Earlier in the year I was thinking about doing a collection of blogs about my video game library but decided to wait for a milestone. I thought about doing one of these yearly but that gets uninteresting, and hard to manage if I have to go searching for games I bought the past year just to have an update. When I looked at the total number of games I was around the low 2,900s, and I thought 3,000 would be good. After yesterday’s trip to the local GameStop

I am seven games away from this mark. So at 3,000 I will get pull my games out of the games closet, take some pictures and start my game collection blogs. I think the last one I did was on the old 1Up site when I was around 2,000 games.

Since our last conversation I’ve been playing a handful of games.

NCAA Football 14 – PS3

Right before the National Title game, I created another save file because I knew that regardless of the outcome my created coach would be offered the Michigan Football job because he has ties to the school (his alma mater is Michigan). I did this and started him at Eastern Michigan with the hopes that he would get the offer. The offer came, and after one game as Michigan head coach, I went back to my other save file where he is still the coach at Old Dominion.

I made the mistake in previous games of rushing to the big program and the game seems to lose its charm of building the up an underdog.

Lego Batman 3 – PS3

I’m still roaming around looking for items to collect. I earned all the True Hero gold bricks, I’m missing two red bricks, a bunch of minikits, and a lot of characters. I think my gamesave file says I’m 50% finished.

inFamous Second Son – PS4

I am currently 40% into this game, but I don’t know how far I am into the actual story mode. I’ve been roaming around taking out drug dealers, freeing folks, and destroying enemy outposts. Most of my Saturday and Sunday gaming has been with this game, and just like the previous game it is a lot of fun. It’s like a good superhero game without the tights.

As someone who doesn’t deal well with heights, this kind of bothered me. Can you imagine how this would look on a 4K TV? Let’s us know fancy TV owners!

Call of Duty Ghosts – PS4

I started a game on the “next gen” (the oohs and ahhhs from the peanut gallery) and its still the same game that I played on the 360, which is no surprise, and I think I just started the 2nd section in the story mode.

Injustice – PS4

This was the PS+ freebie, and at some point I will buy the physical copy, but I started playing this game and man playing the heck out of the Mobile version unlocks a bunch of extra stuff for your gamer card. Again more games need to feature this cross promotion between console and mobile because yahoos like myself will play both.

Lego City Undercover – 3DS

Oh this game just pure fun. The missions are easy, and the Lego violence is funny. There are lots of collectables including building up items around your town like buildings and ramps.

Simpsons Tapped Out – iPad Air

Since it is winter, my favorite game mod is back where it snows in Springfield and this season’s game is to visit other towns, tap on their buildings and collect presents. After you collect enough presents through completing tasks and visiting other Springfield’s you unlock various prizes.

There are also new Premium Characters and characters connected with last night’s episode

I do miss last year’s event where visitors would leave presents.

Before we end our little chat for Monday I saw this on Reddit last night and I thought I’d share it with you good people

Have a good week Pixlbit, and for today’s Christmas song

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

I'm at 1266 games listed on backloggery.

That's cool about Pac-Man. I didn't know that.

Those sweaters on them Beach Boys. Pure cornball. Ug!

That is a good size collection. I know elementary school Chris thought 20 games was a HUGE library. He'd probably be overwhelmed by our libraries.

The Beach Boys wore ugly sweaters before they were in. They were 60s Hipsters. Tongue Out

I was just looking at my backloggery page and the numbers are kinda misleading because I've listed all the games I have within collections. Thus I have like 160 PSP games, which isn't true. I'm tempted to go back in and get rid of all games within collections for that reason, but I put a lot of time into entering them, so maybe I shouldn't. I dunno. I think I might take them out to reflect the number of games I have more accurately.

Yeah that's the one problem with Backloggery. I too have quite a few games like that but I don't want to go in and get rid of that work. I should start an Excel sheet of how many actual games I do own like I do with my CDs.

I was going to reduce the collections down, but I realized it's neat to record high scores and other comments on each individual game; so, I guess I'll have to show some "false valor" of sorts with how many games I actually have.

I thnk I have that Chun-Li controller.  Chun-Li is really cool, but my favorite is Cammy. They were going to make a Cammy controller at one point, too.  I'm not very good at Street Fighter games, though.  I just mash buttons and hope for the best.  At least I can sometimes pull off moves with Cammy, though.

Yeah the ghosts in Pac-Man have four distinct personalities.  Blinky's 'character' is Shadow so he follows you around like a shadow.  Pinky is "Speedy" and usually will try and head you off at the pass.  Inky is "Bashful" and will try to stay away from Pac-Man.  And Clyde is "Pokey" and slow. Originally, all four ghosts were going to be red, but the creator of Pac-Man wanted them to be different colors to differentiate their personalities and movements.

I tried using Cammy when she was first released but I went back to Chun-Li. I too like to push buttons and hope for the best, but I think SFII I actually sat down and learned her moves.

Can you imagine the chaos if all the ghosts were the same color. That should be a mode in new releases of the game.

I didn't know the memorial looked like that.  That's really beautiful, but sad.

It is such an amazing place. There's a hole in the floor of the memorial and you can look down at the Arizona. One of the sad items to see is that the Arizona is still leaking oil. It's like it is still bleeding.

Some day I must visit Hawaii. The Arizona Monument is on my must-visit list if I ever get there.

As for number of games I own, I've lost track. Somewhere in the 300s, I think. I had a bunch go missing that I didn't discover until I moved most recently. I'm pretty annoyed about that, as several of them were rare or hard to find and will cost me a bundle to replace.

You should visit the Memorial. It is interesting and there is so much History in that area.

I hate it when games go missing. One summer between me moving out of my apartment while working at Disneyland and going back to school, I lost somewhere in the neighborhood of 60 Playstation games. It freaking sucks. I think I replaced all of them since but it sucks knowing I lost my originals, and my favorite giant Lara Croft memory card.
