The only portable option for suikoden II could be Vita

I first tried my PSP and got told it isn't downloadable to that system. So off I go to the PS3 and download it there. Usually PS1 classics stay in uninstalled form even after installing to the PS3 so that you can copy them to your PSP. Not this game. The installable file disappears.

I did manage to download it directly to my Playstation TV and just as a note it gives the PSP warning splash screen before continuing to the PS1 screen and is only playable in it's original 4:3  format (no full screen option). The game doesn't support the analog sticks but you can assign the left stick to operate like the digital pad if you are so inclined.

It looked a little grainy on PS TV but then it is an old PS1 so whaddaya want?

Checking how it looks on PS3 next.

Lemme know how it looks on PS3. I may be bad and spend grocery money on it and just not eat for a day or two...

Looks just fine on PS3. For a PS1 game that is. If you have other PS1 games on your PS3 it's pretty much what you'd expect.

I've played it full screen and native 4:3. I think I might leave it at the square screen but the full screen didn't bother me much either. What does bother me is having to use the digital pad but seeing as how this is the last unplayed Suikoden game for me I will let that slide.

Then again I can always play it on PS TV with the analog stick mapped to the digital pad. decisions, decisions. :)

Darn. That's a real gamer, sacrificing food to play a game. I'm not sure I could go that far. Maybe though. That game would have to be pretty special.

Suikoden II is like the Holy Grail of PSX games except there's more than one and you can't buy a Holy Grail on eBay for a couple of hundred bucks. :)

Then again, this digital release may rock the physical market. I know I'm not going to spend that kind of money on a game but for $10 I get to play it.

I really need to pick that up. I have Suikoden 1 on my PS3. I wonder if I should get S2 there or Vita? I kinda like the big screen for this game maybe.

Yep, I have the first game on my PS3 but I played it on my PSP. S2 asks if you want to load your S1 save at the beginning but given the restrictions that won't work for me.

Hum, you can carry over your save from the first game? May have to stick with PS3 for both then.

I found the fact that it comes up with the PSP warning screen before it starts on PS TV pretty funny.

I may try downloading it to my PC using Media Go and see if I can copy it to the PSP but I'm not holding my breath

Seems as though a few people are complaining about the fact that Suikoden 2 cannot be copied to PSP. If this is any indication we've seen the end of PSP compatible PS1 classics. :(

This better not be the end of PSone Classic compatibility with the PSP. there are so many other games taht could benefit as a digital distrubution for the PSP! I can understand future titles but not prior titles that use to be PSP compatibile!
