Well Happy Friday Pixlbit Nation! The week has come to an end and I am ready to do nothing but…well actually I don’t know. I should go buy the last remaining Christmas gifts, and I missed the midweek Swapmeet because I got lazy, so I should go to the weekend Swapmeet. So what has been going on in your lives? Anything interesting? Currently it is a wet Friday here in normally Sunny Southern California. Yesterday was the start of this huge storm and which gave birth to what is easily my favorite hash tag #HellaStorm. Oh Nor Cal and your use of “Hella”. For those outside of California Northern Californians use the term “Hella” to add emphasis and replace the word very or really. Southern Californians get made fun of because we like adding the word “The” to the names of freeways. “Hey did you see The 405 is a parking lot today?” And that concludes the odd vocabulary of the different parts of California. Let’s start today’s Quick Hits

Aztec Sports

MY AZTECS ARE BOWLING FOR A FIFTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR!

The Aztecs are staying home this year for the Poinsettia Bowl against the US Naval Academy, which is a big deal because San Diego is a big military town (there are bases everywhere!). Another reason is that this is the longest streak of bowl games in the history of SDSU, and hopefully another streak we have keeps going this year. SDSU is the only school in the nation to send Football, Basketball, and Baseball to back-to-back post-season appearances. Hopefully we keep it going this year.

Aztec Basketball hit a speed bump in Washington but won a big game at home to Long Beach State. Some 49er fans think they were robbed and what not, but one of the Nations Best Defenses makes teams think that.

S-D-S-U, SDSU AZTECS FIGHT! I’m one happy alum and fan!

In what my friend billed as the best three hours of television, Tuesday night was easily the best “Don’t Get Up” time

8-9pm

Masterchef Juniors had their final four. Watching four kids break down a fish is not only hilarious, but impressive because I know I couldn’t take one down, let alone break it down. I am a TERRIBLE fisherman. One of the kids I was rooting for was kicked out but the last two kids are solid chefs so I can’t complain.

9-10pm

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD was freaking awesome for their “mid-season” finale (just call it a cliff hanger already). Apparently throughout the season, the writers were dropping hints on to what was going on, including a music clue in the previous episode. Yup ABC dropped some crazy stuff on our lap and then said “See You In March”.

The one positive is that Agent Carter will fill the empty time. I should watch the first Captain America flick in its entirety because my watch in chunks approach doesn’t work.

10-11pm

This was easily the fastest hour in television and like I tweeted I was watching for the articles. Yes the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was on and it had musical guest Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and a couple of dudes.

Yes this was the best three hours of television!

Chris Goes To Goodwill

I haven’t been back to this store in almost a month because there haven’t been any CDs, or Video Games but I decided to make a trip and holy cow a bunch of stuff was there. First off there were some games in the new CD/DVD section. I already owned the stuff they were selling and the CDs went up a dollar in price to $2.99, which is the highest of the thrift stores. I then make a trip to the back where they have a bunch of random appliances, and electronics and what do I see?

A bunch of Tony Hawk Ride Skateboard controllers. I think these were the Walmart Special Edition boards. They were going for I think $10, and if they had the sensor you connect to the console I would have bought one (I’m one of the few who actually owns the Tony Hawk ride games). They also had the clear green X-Box controller, which was cool, but I’m good with my black ones. I will however buy an X-Box “Duke” Controller if I ever find one for under $5 at a thrift store

I don’t even want to use it, I just to have one in the basket full of controllers.

Mildly Interesting Game Items

I finally popped in UFC on the PS4, after buying the $5 Bruce Lee Bundle and the $2 Royce Gracie, I get hit with this

Oh the update screen, the screen that kills the desire to play a game. Thank goodness this only took maybe 10 minutes at most just so I could see this guy

I played a couple of fights with Bruce before playing with in *say this in Bruce Buffer’s Voice: ROWDY, RONDA, ROUSEY! No arm bars because I have no idea how to do them in this game, but straight up kicks and punches to the other fighter’s face. Good ol’ fashion wholesome family friendly action.

In Star Wars Commander if you upgrade your base to Level 8 you can unlock this guy

Yeah I need to save up cash to upgrade and use him instead of the black AT-AT I’m rolling with. Also there is a new set of special levels for the week. Since my base is the weak one out of the Level 7s, I’m getting attacked a lot.

This appeared on my Instagram feed and I thought I’d share

Other randoms I found interesting

Ok apparently I wasn’t the only person wondering why the mom was kissing Santa while the husband as asleep. I was texting my friend about this, and sure enough later that day on Reddit I saw that meme and it all made sense.

This is Lego related and funny

And finally

Two shows I love: Community and Firefly shared the same props

Oh you sneaky prop guys!

Another buddy sent this to me and I thought it was hilarious

Jimmy Fallon does this skit where he does ragtime versions of pop hits and for this song they cover Marvin Gaye’s Sexual Healing.

Pickups!

Last week while picking up some Disney Infinity Power Discs at Toys R Us because they were Buy 1 Get 1 Free for the younger cousins I saw that this game was $15 for the weekend and I said why not

I played through it on the 360, and now I’m going through the game on the PS4. So far I am on the 3rd mission and I just downloaded the special holiday themed gun because it was free.

I took a trip to another GameStop while picking up some lunch and in their cheap games display I added some 360 games to the library that I didn’t have

DDR I just like picking up if I see them. They’re cheap and they are fun. I think the dance pad I have is also compatible with the 360. I don’t know much about Velvet Assassin but it sounds interesting, and with this Halo game I think I have them all with the exception of Halo 4.

This was a Target Clearance find

I haven’t given it a try yet, but I will add it to my Wii Hard Drive probably this weekend.

Some freebie games from iTunes, and Origin

The free app of the week was God of Light. This game is interesting because the point of the game is to connect a light beam from one side of a dark screen to the other by bouncing it off of special objects. It reminds me of certain levels from the PSP game Smart Bomb.

The next game is a must for any fan of Marvel

Contest of Champions is a story based fighting game. Think Injustice with one round of fights. I’ve spent a lot of time playing this game over the past couple of days and you unlock fighters to add to your team as you go through the Universe beating up other Marvel characters. I just 100% the first act (four acts in total so far) and within each act there are six levels. Controls are easy with block is the left side of the screen, right side of the screen to tap is low hits, swipe is medium hits, and if you hold the right screen it is the most powerful hits.

I saw this and had to download it to my Origin account.

I absolutely LOVE Sim City 2000. This was the big game I played when I first got my Packard Bell 233mhz desktop (this was the bad boy back in the day). This was the game I played a ton of and created a bunch of little towns especially with the city editor where I didn’t have to pay for adding buildings and what not.

Music

I hit a bit of a win streak when it comes to music over the past week. A couple of thrifts came up big along with a new release

I picked up the new J. Cole because I saw the album on iTunes. His last album I took a chance on, and really enjoyed so I bought his other album and downloaded his mixtapes.

From the Dollar Store when I went in to buy a Gatorade I left with some music too

I believe Keke Palmer was a former American Idol contestant.

From Goodwill I added

Remember Da Band from Puffy’s Making the Band?

I originally bought this James Bond album back in college, lent it to a friend who left it in his car, and his car got stolen. Years later I finally get a copy (wouldn’t it be funny if this was the one I owned) The case is beat to hell, but the discs are fine.

Yesterday I made a quick stop by a charity thrift shop before hitting Costco and picked up these albums

I like Yo-Yo Ma and that was the driving force behind picking up the Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Soundtrack. Usher and Joss Stone because of a couple of songs I had digitally a long time ago.

Some vinyl pickups from Goodwill

I think I might have missed a really good donation if these were the only albums left. Changes One Bowie is a compilation album and for you Guitar Hero fans has Ziggy Stardust.

Toys

On another trip to Toys R Us (its next to the grocery store so I stop there first to look around before buying food) I added a Lego polybag that for some reason is hard to find around here

This was the last one so I’m happy, and I also picked up

Damien Sandow who now is Damien Mizdow and is freaking hilarious. He is the “stunt double” for The Miz (for you reality TV fans a former Real World cast member). Mizdow copies everything the Miz does. I want to get the WWE wrestling rings because they are half off right now. Hopefully they still at this price for a while so I can get both the Wrestlemania and Smack Down sets.

Ok Pixlbit I think we should end our conversation here but before we call it a blog, here is the current Christmas song stuck in my head. I had it on repeat for I think an hour while roaming around the thrift store, and Costco yesterday

Have a good one!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

Nice pick up on the Diamond Dogs album.

The sun finally came out after four days of rain here. Tuesday was the worst, because it all froze. My car was encased in a couple of inches of ice, and I thought I was going to have to go out and rescue the poor dog because his feet kept going out from under him when he went out to do his business. Tuesday night, it warmed up and just poured until late yesterday afternoon. The good thing about that was that it melted the ice off my car before my job interview (I didn't get the job). The bad things was everything is now flooded. I had to drop my car off at my mechanic yesterday to get my snow tires put on and I walked home through the woods. Dog and I were soaked and cold when we got home. At least the rain stopped by the time I had to walk back and get my car, only our feet got soaked that time.

As for my weekend, just planning on Jason coming over on Sunday and watching football with me.

I've heard predictions already of a New England vs. Green Bay super bowl.

I don't count my chickens before they hatch. Would be a good game, though.

Thanks!

I'm sorry about the job but hey it's their loss right? I'm ok with rainy weather as long as I don't get wet, and that description of walking through the woods getting cold and wet wouldn't fly with me. At least you got to watch some football which is always a good way to end the weekend.

I thought you meant you were very seriously excited for the SDSU bowling team and I got excited. Too bad it was just boring old college football.

Also, Santa's real and mommy's a cheating whore.

I wish we had a bowling team. I don't know how or why but I got caught up watching Women's College Bowling awhile back on ESPN.

Hahaha that's what I was thinking when I texted my friend about it.

Sonic and the Black Knight is a Sonic game I actually want to play.

It sounds interesting. I will give it a try soon but right now I've been caught up in playing through Lego Marvel on the PS3

Lewis black is amazing and funny as hell. I actually got to see him live for my b day when I was 21. Greatest time ever of my life!

This weekend I'm working and probably gonna play my vita and 3ds the most since my day period normally consist of sleep for work. I also gotta work Monday instead of being off but the girl I'm covering for is suppose to work Wednesday for me.

I haven't listened to much of his stand up so this album should be fun especially since I've been going through a stand up phase on Netflix.

A day of nothing but Vita and 3DS sounds good.

I love that original Xbox controller.  A man's controller.  Like playing a game with a freaking Hoagie.  Tongue Out

That bad boy is massive. The only time I saw one at a thrift was when the thrift store I bought my Wii from was selling two of them with the XBox and matching backpack for $60. I should have bought it.

I want to get another Ride board.  My first board was given to me.  I'd pay $10 for another.  Not a cent more though. Cool

It was a fun concept, too bad it couldn't be used with other games.
