Winter Sale so Far (Free Purchases)

Phase One of my Winter Sale shopping on Steam is done, using my Steam Wallet's $20 given to me by a friend. Essentially, I got these all for free.

Yeah, Legends is better, but it's also newer and unlikely to drop below $20, even on sale, so I nabbed myself some Rayman goodness for under $10 instead.

I remember wanting to play it way back when and the trailer and positive reviews and description (FPS/Action/Shooter/Racer? Yes, please!) sold me.

Also under $5.

I have the first one and still need to beat it, but figure I'll get 2 as well. My older brother used to have an app on his phone of nothing but GLaDoS sayings.

Also under $5.

Oh hell yeah. Been wanting to play this ever since it came out. For under $5, I nabbed it!

And that's what I got for free.

With Christmas in two days, we'll see if there's any cash in my stocking after my older bro gets me the graphic novel I asked for

and we'll see if I want more Steam games from there.

I finally found him the Rise Against CDs he wanted, which was way harder than it should have been. Thank God for Hastings, cause other CD retailers have no selection and nothing is in order anyway! Still can't find his small black leather dress gloves. We bought him medium last year and I'm convinced that's as low as men's sizes go.

How is your Christmas shopping going?

Good picks!  I haven't played Portal 2 yet, but it's on my backlog. I own it.  I beat the first one though, and I really liked that.

I heard those Rayman games are great though.  Sometimes it's nice to just play a good platformer.

Glad you're done with your shopping. I had to buy one more thing today, but now I'm done.  A little bit more wrapping to do, but otherwise ready for Christmas here.

I'm thinking I'll get him a little something else, but not sure what yet. I have to wrap too. Glad you're done as well!

I wanted to play Rage when it released but alot of the negative things I heard about it stopped me. One of my work buddies when I worked at Walmart did however say it was a good game, just it's kind of easy and short. Blazblue is a great series. It replaced guilty gear when Arc sold the rights to it. When I got it for my laptop thou it lagged. I don't know if it was my laptop or the game, hopefully it's better for you. I'm done for christmas, I took care of everything before this week. The only thing I'm waiting on is I bought the bf the wolf among us on vita from amazon for the price best buy is offering this week and I'm waiting for them to get it back in stock so they can ship it out. I have it locked at that price thou so it's all good. I wanna buy me walking dead season 2 but I'm thinking about waiting a lil longer. I think it drop to 15$ again after christmas.

I'd have done my Christmas shopping long ago had I not come back home with basically the flu.

Hopefully, BlazBlue doesn't lag on me. Were you playing online?

And as long as Rage is fun, I don't mind short. Got it for free after all.

I played Rage on PS3 and liked it a lot. I was kinda surprised by how good the racing was. It felt great, and I definitely wasn't expecting that. As for Legends vs. Origins,,,, well, I honestly couldn't say which was better. They both rely on a LOT of trial and error. Legends has a TON of levels where you are running away from flames or whatever other instant death. Which annoyed me to no end. If you like 2D platformers though, they are both highly polished, and I don't see how you could go wrong with either.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of 2D platformers and the old ones I grew up on have trial and error stuff in them. I like learning levels and perfecting my reflexes, so should be good.

Like I commented on Steam, nice choice with Origins, and also add Portal 2.

I was interested in Rage ever since it was shown on E3 2011, but l kinda lost track of it. I've been also told the PC port isn't that good and it has a dissapointing ending, but i'll let you confirm that.

Well poop, maybe I should have got Bulletstorm instead with all this negativity towards Rage. But both have very positive Steam ratings, so we'll see.

Sheesh it's awful. This year I'm just getting the first things that catch my eye for various family members. I don't know what anyone wants or anything, so I'm just winging it. There's gift receits on everything so they can return them if they want.

I still have Rage and haven't played it yet. I was kind of excited for it when it came out too. Where does all the time go?

That's their fault. They should be thankful you got them presents at all.

They will be. I don't think they'll really return anything. I just worry about it so much. I wish the gift giving thing could be something simpler, or like reduced to token gifts or something. I just had a notion that I would just get a case of beer and say to everyone, "Here's my Xmas gift to everyone. Chug away." Ha ha! That would be crazy.

As someone who cares more about the thought and less about the gift every year, I'd enjoy that. lol

Good stuff. I remember playing a bit of Rage but never finishing it, which isn't a new thing for me. I found it is getting harder to find specific CDs in Brick & Mortar stores because everyone is going to digital. I wish there were more mom & pop music stores.

Yeah, at least there is Hastings. I love that store, but I feel bad cause everyone I've talked to who has worked at the Nac one has said the management is awful.

Origins is the better way to start since it dishes the moves out to you in pieces, letting you get a better feel for the controls. They're both great games, it's just Legends hit that Super Mario World/Sonic 2 god tier of platformers to me.
