My bro-in-law got the Xbox One for his kids. I had to answer a bunch of questions about Xbox Live Gold and some of the console's cooler features. I guess I'm good for something after all.

So did you basically tell him to keep all of his kids the hell off XBOX LIVE?

I told him he could come into the room when it was bed time and just say, "Xbox off" and it would shut down. He liked that.

I wonder how well that actually works though ... granted, I may find out. Got my eyes on XBO still.

I know there are parental settings imbedded in Xbox 360 for just this sort of reason. You can limit the time spent by certain accounts and such. I'm sure they're still there for Xbox One.

nice haul man!  I got the DSLR camera I wanted, and some books.  The camera is fun, but I haven't used it during daylight yet (had to charge the battery).  Really want to get into taking black and white photos for some reason.  

Son of  BITCH. Thanks for reminding me buying a nice DSLR camera would be a more responsible choice for me, Snee. lol

sigh.  if only you could play games on the camera's screen, you would have the best of both worlds.  

I mean there's probably a way to hack it, but the most you'd get is like Snake or something.

Definitely get a console although in my opinion I wouldnt get a new gen system only for the lack of games and seeing that ps3 & 360 games are cheap I would go that route you can get a ps3 slim for under $200 and a 500 gb hard drive for $40 on amazon so thats my opinion.

If I got a console, it would be one of the newer ones. I hear what you're saying, but my laptop is basically a last generation console with cheap Steam games already.

I got the collector's edition of Kingdom Hearts 2.5 Remix on PS3, Sonic Lost World on Wii U, a few DVDs like The Wind Rises, a "Grunkle Stan" Fez hat from Gravity Falls, some gift cards, a Muppet book, and a Despicable Me Minion Fart Gun!

My neice, nephew and cousins were all playing with a fart machine. It was just a speaker you could hide somewhere and then trigger it with a remote. Was this the "year of the fart" or something? I guess those gag gifts never get old.

It was year of butts for pop music, may as well let the kids in on it some other way I guess. lol

No matter how old you get, no matter how mature and sophisticated you become, fart jokes are still always funny.  Either that or I'm just immature.

I actually never liked fart jokes or potty humor in general, but I find sex humor hilarious and that definitely isn't because my sense of humor is mature. lol

But seriously, I saw The Wind Rises in the theater and it rocked. Loved that movie!!!

Nice, as for the money, I'd say get a Wii U or a New 3DS but that's just me. Hope you have fun with whatever you end up getting.

Wii U is in the mix as a wild card for sure. I'd love a 3DS, but to be honest, I play most of my handheld games indoors and not moving anyway, so I think it makes more sense for me to get a console.

If you're more inclined to one of the newer consoles, I'd nudge you towards the PS4. Either way, 2015 is going to be a big year for either console. And no matter what some may say, plenty of good games came out this year for both. But one of the selling points for purchasing one back in August was to prepare for the metric fuck ton of titles hitting us within the new year. 

But, really, you need a PS4. ;)

The reason I leaned toward that Sunset Overdrive bundle is I met the marketing team for that game this year. I'll have to look at the exclusives for each console. Honestly, if Star Fox gets good reviews, I may just buy a Wii U.

Again I'm super late so you probably already figured out what you're going to do with the 300 but if you haven't consoles are fun. NFS Hot Pursuit as well as other NFS games are always fun. Good purchase!

It would be if EA didn't suck and make me log in with a copy/pasted ID code, only to have the ID code not work to let me in the online system. Also, the game is slow.
