Some PC games are just optimized horribly, especially if they're multiplat. I found the Fault in our Stars a bit overrated. There was a bit of a craze around it in my school around when the movie came out, but I read the book and found it to be shallow, in that there's not much to read into. I guess that's what most YA books are like anyways. It's good for what it is, and it's a fun read.
Finished Limbo, bought Shovel Knight, reading again

I liked Limbo a lot overall, but I hate when I understand exactly how to solve a puzzle but can't get the timing exactly right to complete it. But after confirming what I already thought was the answer (except in one case, where I didn't realize I'd have to travel so far left to get a box I needed) via IGN Walkthrough and then getting the timing down a few times, I did beat it.
I'm not sure what exactly the ending meant and found it a bit anticlimactic (please use spoiler tags in the comments if you want to tell me what I missed, maybe white out some of the text or just say spoilers in caps), but it's a solid game.
I'd say for what it is, I'd give it 8/10.
I um ... don't remember this ever happening, but here we are.
Before I finished Limbo, I saw Shovel Knight on sale for about $10 and figure that's about as good as it's gonna get, so I finally own it on Steam for 33% off. I stuck to my word of buying when it went on sale. Look forward to playing it.
I tried playing Legend of Korra after I uninstalled Limbo (I tend to uninstall games from my laptop immediately after beating them so my other games run smoother), but it shut my PC off again. Booo. It's so random what games want to cooperate with my laptop. I always check Can You Run It (I decided against Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition today because my PC barely meets minimum requirements and no recommended ones), but Tomb Raider ran fine on normal settings, yet games like Limbo and LoK have given me problems. The hell? Only other game I have installed is GTAIII and I kind of hit a wall at that sniper mission near the boat with 8Ball, so I may just uninstall that to finish Korra, since Korra is shorter and I have more of a desire to finish it right now.
Speaking of Avatar stuff, the graphic novel I got for my birthday was awesome. Any one of the three parts or subplots in the story feel like they could easily be new episodes of the show. The characters are funny and well-written as always, the animation is reminiscent of the amazing show and the plot held my attention through 200+ pages straight. Can't wait to get The Search now and find out about Zuko's mom. Highly recommended for anyone who is both a fan of comics and the show, especially because the annotations let you know what real life political struggles inspired much of the story.
There's also sketches and extra artwork that's cool
I've also finally read past the first chapter of Fault in our Stars and will probably finish tonight. It's an easy read, I just never had time while writing my thesis. Hopefully, I can keep this trend of extracurricular reading going.
How are you?
