I love PSX games. The best console ever, dammit. There's so many weird games I've never heard of that look so interesting. I wish more were available digitally.
Echo Night - An Unsung Horror Game From the PSX Library

Yesterday I received notice from Amazon that someone had purchased my copy of Echo Night. It was a game I picked up used from Blockbuster way back when.
Echo Night is a horror adventure/murder mystery game with no real combat to speak of. You spend most of the game sorting out the unfinished business of ghosts aboard a ship that disappeared.
You can be killed mainly by being scared to death by apparitions but like all good malevolent specters turning on the lights scares them away
The game had plenty of puzzles to solve and some of them were pretty off the wall. Fixing a drink for an alcoholic ghost, what's not to love?
While the graphics wouldn't win any awards even for a game from 1999 and the voice acting was, well, dead, the game had a suitably creepy atmosphere that I loved.
It was followed up on PS2 by Echo Night: Beyond which was set on a space ship. I got killed a lot more in that one. :D
This is a game I enjoyed playing in all it's blocky, muddy glory and now sadly we are parting ways in exchange for $40. :(
