Nintendo DS 10th Anniversary

As you all know, the Nintendo DS had it's 10th anniversary this year. I knew it, I had something planned for it, but I never got around to writing anything for it. I blame playing alot on my 3DS (it's Smash Bros. fault) but with my battery dead on it, this makes a perfect opportunity to write about the Nintendo DS.

                                                            What I'm using right now

It's what I've been using since my battery died, well a DSi I had but it plays DS games so it counts. With it's 10 year lifespan (and still going) it got me thinking about my DS game collection, because those are the only handheld games I can play right now. It also gave me the perfect opportunity to see if my favorite DS games are still my favorites.

DS Honorable Mentions

                                                        DS Honorable Mentions

So, starting next year because this year is nearly over (at least here in So.Cal), I'm going to write 10 DS related blogs, 1 for each of my 10 favorite DS games. There will be games missing like some obvious picks like the Ace Attorney and Castlevania DS titles because I never got around to them, but the Ace Attorney games are now on 3DS now so I can get to that eventually. In each blog I'll post 1 of my favorite games along with an honorable mention of a game that didn't make the list in each one. So hope you look forward to that. I'm also planning something else but that will be in an update to see what it is.

So with that said, thanks for reading and have a Happy 2015!

Looking forward to seeing each cart be revealed. I forgot it's been ten years since the DS came out. Lots of great games there to choose from.

I totally forgot about the DS's anniversary. Man, I can't believe it's been 10 years already. And you missed out on Ace Attorney AND Castlevania? Those are my two favorite franchises on DS. You definitely need to fix that.

DS was a great system. A wide variety of games came out for it.  I dunno if 3DS is as diverse.

The DS was kind of sudden for me. The GBA was barely 3 years old and Nintendo didn't seem to know what to do with the DS at the time. I got the OG fat DS with a demo cartridge of Metroid Prime Hunters as my 2005 birthday present. It turned out to be quite a nice system. Now I have a Zelda 3DS with all my DS games still playable. My favorite DS games are the Dragon Quest games.

I remember playing a demo DS at E3 back then.  All the demo stations were crowded except for the one for Pac-Pix, so that was the first DS game I ever played.  I miss those days.

I hope you get to play the Phoenix Wright games!  That was my favorite series on the DS!

Actually tried both the PSP and DS back when they were the newest thing. I got myself a DS after playing around with my brother's.

10 blogs over your top 10, eh? I don't think I would have the energy for that.

Still have my og launch DS. My brother was kind enough to replace the battery for me a few years ago when the batter couldn't hold much of a charge.

I look forward for your DS blogs. I decided to go for the PSP back in the days instead, but I still had a lot of respect and wanted to have a DS and now with a 3DS i'm slowly going through the games I missed.

The DS has slowly but surely become one of, if not favorite systems of all time. I still buy games for it pretty often. Interested to see your picks!
