January 2015: Getting Back to the Games

Hi Pixlbit.  I haven’t completely forgotten you!  Completely...

Gaming last year wasn’t.... up to snuff.  I don’t remember July.  My computer had a catastrophic failure last August where I was down for two weeks.

Gaming wasn’t exactly on hold for most of the fall, it just took a back burner to what I had been up to.  My job was one big fat question mark in October, where I found myself helping out on a daily newspaper while their design department was outsourced before dodging the bullet of unemployment back at the weeklies when a coworker departed sparing my job.  (Still looking for a new job outside of newspapers...)  NaNoWriMo happened in November, and thus went all that time.

December has come and gone, and I finally have a PS4!  Time to make up for lost time.

First, I have to mention... coming from the slowness of the PS3 to PS4.... thanks Cerny.

What I’ve been playing:

My Inquisitor - Yeah, another Dallish Elf Mage.  It took me all of 30 seconds to rename my Ps3 directory to Ps4 and grab my screenshots.

Dragon Age:  Inquisition

I made it about probably 2/3rds of the way through Dragon Age Origins back in the day.  I gave up at that point because it was clunky, ugly, and terrible on PS3.  I hated most of the characters and the drabness and small areas.  The control scheme wasn’t great either.  I stayed far away from 2 because it also looked like ass.

I’m enjoying Inquisition a lot.  Probably more than most people!  The characters people said were annoying aren’t bothering me.  The only real complain I have about the game is the hair.  Well, that and the combat is basically brain dead and I’m playing on hard.  But that’s the least of my concerns.  It’s a nice looking game except the hair.  Also, good lord I need more inventory space.

After Dragon’s Dogma (and a lesser extent the Souls series) I’ve learned my lesson about making my player characters look like myself.  Especially in a game with sex scenes.  So my elf girl is a short haired blond.  I’m pretty happy with how she turned out, except her smile.  When she smiles she looks like she looks like she’s plotting to bite someone’s head off or destroy everything.  I really should have tweaked her mouth but it’s hard to tell what’s gonna happen with the animations inside the character creator.

Solas wasn’t happy at me just prior to this part of the story.

Far Cry 4:

Picked this up too! Running around shooting everyone and everything with a bow... falling out of the sky on a ultralight helicopter.  A million points on a map to find.  Yup.

Diablo III:

Not to be outdone, I picked this up too!  Because sometimes I just want to hold down X.  or R2.  Maybe I should have started on Hard.  The voice acting in this game is kind of all sorts of terrible... except that rogue Troy Baker is voicing.

I figure all these games will hold me over until Bloodborne.  If you want to join me for multiplayer fun in any of the above, you know where to find me.  I’ll be back to update you on my DA:I progress.

Anime Stuff:

Go watch Rage of Bahamut: Genesis for a good time.  Stay away from Sailor Moon Crystal. Everything else, check my twitter for updates.

Is Cullen checking me out?  .... all part of the plan...

It's alright. I tend to get most of my gaming done in January.

ah my favorite Sonicbug.  Of all the sonicbugs in the world, you are the most sonic.

I've been playing DA too, I made a male elf wizard who is pragmatic and fair.  But if I make another character, Im going to make a female dwarf who is a merciless nut suffering from a messiah complex.  Laughing

Hey Kate! Good to see you! I spent most of last year not gaming much, either, so don't feel bad.
