Yep. This is my list: http://plus10damage.com/blog/2015/1/6/blakes-top-10-of-2014

It's filled with games and stuff. Oh, and snark. Lots of snark. Because of course it is.

If you want you can check out the other guys' lists as well. Here's Jamison's: http://plus10damage.com/blog/2014/12/23/jamisons-top-10-of-2014

Also, the site's official top 10 should go up on friday, as should the podcast where argue about what gets which place. Fun. Fun fun fun.

Choice list, bro. I just started playing Dungeons of the Endless a few days ago. It just feels so good to play. Not an ounce of fat on it, it keeps you making moment to moment decisions.  People are having trouble defining the game, but I would call it a strategy game; you're planning and executing based on the environmental conditions and your resources, switching your perspective between macro and micro.  It may be my GoTY.

Wolfenstein is the AAA of the year, afaic. It's one of the few AAA games to bring together old and new design approaches into a successful, cohesive package.A surpise hit, I thought it would be a turd when I first saw it.

Or maybe DS2 is the AAA of the year. I still consider this series to be AA. It never has the best production values (actually looks worse than DS1 to me) or Hollywood names behind it.  It got a lot of flack for not living up to the standard set by the previous games, but the best-in-class action-RPG combat still carried it to the top tier of games released this year. Game is massive and it still puts you through the ringer. More than any other this year, you feel like you've gone on an epic and dangerous video game adventure.

Yeah. I've clocked in 230 hours of Dark Souls 2. It's amazing despite not being awe inspiring. I guess it is AA... I think in technical terms it looks better, especially on PC, but the original edges it out on aesthetic.

Have you put up a Top 10 list yet? If so, please link because I think I missed it. If not, write one, because I think yours would be rather interesting.

I'm going to have to go look for a Steam card. I want to get in on these cool PC games like Grimlock 2 and Dungeons of the Endless and Bird Story.

I'm guessing you don't have a credit card then haha. And yeah, you really do. All of those games are super cheap too. Grimrock is the most expensive and it's 20 bucks.

I do have cc but resist putting it online. If there's any way I can avoid it, I will.

Fair enough I guess.

I tried Dark Souls 2. Then after seven hours I put it down and started up Dark Souls 1 again. Have no regrets. All that matters is I'm playing Dark Souls. And when I finish with both, Bloodborne should be out and PS4 will have two good games.

My top 2014 picks are Dragon Age, Bayonetta 2, Smash Bros, South Park, and Wolfenstein in that order.

Have you actually got your list up? The site buggered up with my notifications and I missed out on HEAPS of blogs because of it.

Speaking of PS4, have you heard of Salt and Sanctuary? It looks a lot like a 2D Dark Souls... has me intrigued.

No haven't put it up. Once our staff GOTY blog is up you can read about my top two picks though.

Nice, I shall look forward to that.

I bought Inquisition btw. I'm going through the originals first. I'm 26 hours into Origins! I forgot how hard that game was.

There's a NWP I guest star in where me and Julian talk about the series while also giving brief impressions of Inquisition.

That is the greatest repsonse ever. Also, I shall endeavor to give it a listen soon

I got to play Wolfenstein.

I didn't like Grimrock.  didn't like the controls.  I wish it was a Vita game.  Creating your own characters was fun though.

Blake Turner Staff Writer

01/08/2015 at 09:25 PM

Yes. Yes you do.

And what about the controls don't you like?

Matt Snee Staff Writer

I don't like the combat.  I really don't like pressing the mouse over and over to attack.  I think, I can't remember exactly.

Blake Turner Staff Writer

Haha if that's how you're playing you're doing it wrong. It's almost like a real time Fire Emblem in first person, if that makes sense. It's more tactical than spammy once you get more weapons and stuff.

Although yeah, early on it is just click click click, switch positions... it opens up a lot later on though.

I really like 1st person dungeon crawlers so I really wanted to like it, and it really seemed cool. Maybe I'll give it another shot.

Wolfenstein and Hearthstone are the only games I played on your list. I own Transistor and the original version of Metro 2033 though. I really should have waited on Redux, but I probably didn't even know it was coming. Or there was a damn Steam sale. Undecided

Blake Turner Staff Writer

01/09/2015 at 02:38 AM

Yeah it wasn't announced until this year. What did you think of Wolfenstein btw?

Aboboisdaman

01/10/2015 at 01:57 AM

It was a lot better than I expected. Mostly I was just glad to see Mecha Deathshead make it in there. I probably won't ever play it again though. I'd rather play Spear of Destiny. Or better yet Brutal Doom.

Your list reminds me I should really look into getting a PC I can play games on.

Yep. You should! Also, sorry for the late reply... I must have missed your comment :(

That's a very nice list. I think the only thing I question is Hearthstone, but not because is bad (I haven't even played it), but because it was released on 2013. One Finger Death Punch, This War of Mine, Dungeons of the Endless, Wolfenstein and Transistor and Dark Souls 2 are on my wishlist and I even if I got vanilla Metro 2033, I will wait for a good price reduction for the Redux version.

Kind of a shame only you with Jamison and Joshua had top 10 lists to post this year, but I did read them and were also very good. You should also tell Jamison that i'm prefering the story of DanganRonpa 2 over the first and Smash Bros. Brawl is amazing :P

Firstly: Everyone's list is coming. We've still got Steve's, Matt's, David's, and Travis' to go.

Secondly, Hearthstone was in Beta in 2013. It officially released this year.

Thirdly: Tell him yourself, we have a comment section for a reason :p

Fourthly: That's good. They'll probably all be in a sale soon. And thank you!

1.) Oh okay, it's just that it's odd you guys posted the collective Top 10 before everyone's individual lists.

2.) That explains it. I just went by Heartstone being from 2013 because of Totalbiscuit's top 10 of that year.

3.) Reminds me I should get an account over the site.

4.) No problem :)

1) Yeah, we changed some things up this year, there were some new guys, people got confused, and Steve went on holidays. We already set the date that the site's top 10 would come out though, and all of our lists were supposed to be up this week.

2) He has different rules to our site. We aren't allowed to put anything in that's in Beta or early access, otherwise Starbound would be in my top 5. Possibly top 3. That game rocks.

3) Do you have facebook? Or a disqus account? If you comment on sites like ign you should have a disqus account. I just use my facebook either way.

4)... You summed it up, you beautiful bastard.
