Hopefully you're all familiar with OCRemix, the internet's premiere source (in my opinion) of fan arrangements of game music. Back at 1UP I posted a brief blog each week highlighting one of the remixes and with a short hiatus behind me I want to continue doing that here on PixlBit. So, without further ado...
From: Final Fantasy VI
Remixed by: Jeremy Soule
This remix is kind of a big deal. Jeremy Soule, for those of you that don't recognize the name, is a longtime video game composer whose first game soundtrack was the underrated 1995 SNES classic Secret of Evermore. Since then his songs have appeared in games as varied as Skyrim, Peace Walker, and Spy Fox. If you like PC strategy games and RPGs (Guild Wars and Dungeon Siege, for instance), you're probably familiar with his work. This live orchestra remix is alternately epic and haunting and builds to a climax that is very much like the sun, just briefly, breaking through the clouds. Of the hundreds of remixes I've listened to on OCR, this one easily ranks up near the top. Highly recommended—don't miss out on this one!
Check back next Wednesday for another remix. I'll also be putting up some more old posts from 1UP (I meant to have a couple more up by now but you know how life is) and then some new stuff...hopefully
Thanks for reading and listening!
