Can you provide a picture of what Australians consider bacon? I just watched a Buzzfeed video of Americans eating British McDonald's, and what they consider bacon looks absolutely nothing like American bacon and according to one of the comments this is something we do differently from the rest of the world.

Edit

Okay, you guys just eat the fat apparently.

Is Falskaar good?

What PC games are u playing now?   What are your anticipated PC games of 2015?

Falskaar is really quite good. The map is small but detailed, with a lot of cool stuff to find and a pretty decent storyline.

At the moment I'm playing Dragon Age: Inquisition because I missed it last year. I'm rather enjoying it.

As for games I'm looking forward to, prepare for a fucking huge list: Bloodborne, The Witcher 3, MGS Phantom Pain, Just Cause 3 (if it releases), Mad Max (if it releases), Mirrors Edge 2, Hyper Light Drifter, Titan Souls, Hellraid, Star Wars Battlefront, Torment: Tides of Numenera, Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Magicka 2, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number (it's banned in Australia :'(), Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void, No Man’s Sky, Adr1ft, Salt, The Deer God, Shelter 2, Death in Candlewood, Life is Feudal, The Pathologic remake, Wander, Triad Wars, Ori and the Blind Forest, Axiom Verge, Apotheon, The Witness.

Yeah, 2015 is a huge year. I took a bunch of games off that list too. If you want to know about any of them, feel free to ask.

If you could pick any superhero to get an Arkham quality game, which hero would it be and what would the game be like?

Blake Turner Staff Writer

01/15/2015 at 09:15 PM

Jesus, and it would play exactly like Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Okay, seriously, probably The Green Lantern in a Platinum Games type thing. He's far from my favourite superhero, but the variety of combat styles and gameplay possibilities that could stem from the ring and you can explore space and and and and it could be good enough to make us forget that fucking terrible movie that came out.

Sounds like a pretty good game. Mostly asked because I keep thinking how WB should use Arkham to launch the video game equivalent of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Though I'd prefer the Jesus game. Have the twelve disciples as your party and hunt down all the weird creatures from the early parts of the Bible to legitimize the religion.

It would be awesome if they did that, but they seem to be doing the film thing anyway so I doubt they'll pay too much attention, especially when they have upcoming movie tie ins to cash in on.

Yes, I'd play the shit out of that game, epecially if you could make Jesus and Peter bang.

I just saw an episode of Dude Perfect which featured "the greatest bowler in the world" who was from Australia. I forget the guy's name but is he really the greatest?

I don't know who he is, but probably. Australia is a big place.

It seems like everything gets banned in Austraila. Why is that?

Blake Turner Staff Writer

Because despite having close to 30 percent of our country being Atheists, the government is still run by old white dudes who haven't been laid since Hitler was just a dude who painted things.

We used to just not have an R rating, so anything over an MA was left unclassified and unable to be sold. Now we have an R rating, but there isn't allowed to be sexual violence or drug use that has player benefits in game (eg crystal meth giving you super powers.) The most recent game to be refused classification is Hotline Miami 2, although to be fair they were kind of asking for it... which is a weird way to phrase a sentence about a game being banned for having rape in it.

But seriously, this is the description of the scene in question and I can kind of see why it got banned. “In the sequence of game play [sic] footage titled Midnight Animal, the protagonist character bursts into what appears to be a movie set and explicitly kills 4 people, who collapse to the floor in a pool of copious blood, often accompanied by blood splatter. After stomping on the head of a fifth male character, he strikes a female character wearing red underwear. She is knocked to the floor and is viewed lying face down in a pool of copious blood. The male character is viewed with his pants halfway down, partially exposing his buttocks. He is viewed pinning the female down by the arms and lying on top of her thrusting, implicitly raping her (either rear entry or anally) while her legs are viewed kicking as she struggles beneath him. This visual depiction of implied sexual violence is emphasised by it being mid-screen, with a red backdrop pulsating and the remainder of the screen being surrounded by black."

I don't agree that it should be banned because films do thing all the time with no repurcussion, but still, it makes sense under the guidelines, and out of all the things Australia has tried to ban, this one makes the most sense to me.

I mean for fuck's sake they tried to ban Saints Row 4 because you could anally probe people, which is sexual assault...

Damn. So I guess you won't be able to buy Hotline Miami 2 on Steam? I can understand why that game might get banned. The first one was pretty brutal. Thanks for the ultra elaborate response. Cool

To be fair, over half of that huge spiel was copy/pasted so I don't think it's that elaborate :p

I want to listen to more Metal music.

Can you offer a primer of essential Metal albums? I trust your taste in games, so  maybe I'll like your music too. Cool

Depends, what kind of metal do you like? If you're just starting out, I'd suggest:

Amon Amarth - Deceiver of the Gods: It's really as catchy, awesome, and as accessible as Death Metal gets. To be fair, this isn't death metal. This is Iron Maiden with screamed lyrics about Thor and Odin.

Opeth - Ghost Reveries: You probably know Opeth already, but in case you don't know which one to pick, I suggest this one. It's got more 70's prog and latin flavour to it, and it's got a great deal more clean singing than Opeth's other album's as well.

Agalloch - The Mantle: My second favourite album of all time. It's part neofolk, part post rock, and part black metal. There's a lot of acoustic stuff but also a lot awesome metal. They tie together really well, to the point where it almost feels more like a heavy folk album than a nomal metal album.

Moonsorrow - Voimasta Ja Kunniasta: I don't know anyone who doesn't like this band. They're epic. If you like fantasy, this is your band.

Isis - In the Abscence of Truth: The best post metal album ever made. Bar none.

In Flames - The Jester's Race: Warning: Don't listen to any of this bands new stuff. It's terrible. However, this is my all time favourite melodic death metal album, and a great place to start with the genre.

Death - Symbolic: For old school death metal, you cannot go past this album. This is back when death was basically just a heavier version of thrash - there are no cookie monster growls, just awesome riffs and aggression.

Negura Bunget - Om: Negativity towards this album doesn't exist. It's a masterpiece of progressive black metal.

Cynic - Traced in Air: There are some people who don't even think this album is metal - but it is, and it's dope.

Swallow The Sun - The Morning Never Came: Doom metal at it's finest.

Most of these albums were chosen for accessibility. They're all produced fairly well, most of their lyrics aren't disgusting, and most of them either incorporate other styles, are more melodic than most, or are just straight up catchy. Hopefully you enjoy something there.
