The year is 1939 and you are a German General with a fresh command in Poland. Anything can happen. Lead well and your inexperienced units could turn into an overwhelming force plowing through Norway. Belgium, France, North Africa and Eastern Front. You could even end up on the shores of England by 1940 - or in America by 1945! In addition to the campaign game, you can play over 35 progressive scenarios independently as either the Allied or Axis side. Choose from over 350 unit types - from Tiger tanks to B-17 Flying Fortresses.     Release Date: 1996

The time for resurrecting historical events has come. Panzer General was one of the first games (if not the first) that actually gave you the ability to play for the Nazis, and yet succeed where Hitler failed. Having total and complete control over land, sea and air units, you must defeat the Allied dogs as fast as you can (to get a major victory), or slower than in history (to get the minor victory).

The game's quality lies in the quantity of units. There are basically hundreds of Axis and Allied units from World War II, accompanied with "circled" animations and battle sounds, as well as marching or moving sounds. The Main menu is always located on the right side of the screen, with plenty of options and selections you can change to suit your preferences.

A turn-based hexagon strategy game that will actually go faster if you have faster computer, but will always be playable (speed doesn't go up infinite). The first and original Panzer General, this installment would be followed by sequels and many other games in the series using the "General" name.

There is also a PC version that is a free download and although a little different then the PSX version it is very good and free and you cant beat that heres a link.

And as you can see in the below pics its graphics are a little better with different menu setups.

And on a personal note this is one of my all time favorite games and I highly recommend trying it.

I might actually give this a try for my netbook. It kind of looks like Conflict on the NES/Super NES and I wouldn't mind making alternative history with either the allies or the axis.

I may just take over the world....
