I'm not a big fan of tower defense, but there was one I liked because it was like a reverse tower defense game. it's Cartoon Network's Regular Show: The Great Prank War.

Even though tower defense games are a dime a dozen on the App Store, I haven't played very many. Kingdom Rush is one of the more well known of the genre, though, and it's easy to see why after playing some. First of all the characters are really small, so you can actually see everything that's going on (very important!). There are four main types of towers—barracks to put out troops and slow down the enemy; archer towers for long-range; artillery towers for heavy firepower; and mage towers for enemies resistant to physical damage—which can be specialized once they're upgraded enough. It provides enough variety to keep things interesting. And there are a lot of different kinds of enemies and I'm sure there are more to come. You also get a hero character that you can move around the level to help out and a couple special powers that recharge after you use them. The graphics and music fit the medieval theme perfectly.
Overall, Kingdom Rush is a well-balanced tower defense game—you don't have to spend any real money to do well—and it's a lot of fun to play. I'm definitely going to finish this up once BaD is over.
