Random Happenings

I don't think I'll be participating in BaD besides reading and leaving lame comments. I feel BaD enough about leaving, but I wanted to write something before the madness starts. So here's some random stuff I've been up to.

Here's what I got blasted on my MP3 player right this second.

Good ol Ozzy. I saw Ozzy Osbourne at the Toyota Center in Houston a little ways back. Still got my ticket stub! He played for like two hours. Running around like a madman. Spraying the crowd with a giant water hose. It was awesome. That dude is getting old so I was glad to have the chance to see him. He definitely didn't disappoint.

Remember the old Batman TV show from the 60s? When I saw this pop up on Amazon it was an instant add to my wishlist. This set has the first season. It's 5 discs and clocks in at 856 minutes. The sucky thing is that they are splitting up the second season into two parts. So I don't know if I'll bother with the rest of it.

This show is just as campy as I remember. I enjoy it a lot, but man... it's cheesy. Hopefully my sanity will survive. So far I've only encountered the Joker, Riddler, and Penguin. I'm really looking forward to seeing Catwoman. You gotta love the old Batmobile too.

I guess I should talk about games since this is a gaming site after all.

I had bought Beyond Good and Evil in what now seems another lifetime off GOG. I'm just now getting around to it. My backlog is kind of insane. Especially when it comes to Steam and GOG. You guys know me though. I don't care how old games are. It's having fun that counts.

This game has a nice atmosphere, and still looks pretty in my opinion. It's kind of weird playing it with a keyboard and mouse. I was also a bit worried going in that it wouldn't run properly since there are about a million threads complaining about it in the GOG forums.... but it runs fine. I didn't have to tweak it or mess with the settings at all. I'm not that far, but am enjoying it.

I've also been playing Metal Slug 3 on Steam. Did I need to buy the Steam version and Metal Slug X as well since I already own the Anthology on PS2? Not really. There was a damn sale and I couldn't resist. One can never have too much Metal Slug.

Metal Slug 3 is intense. It's only five stages long, but the last stage seems to go on for forever. There's a freeplay option that provides infinite continues. Which is nice for those that might need it. I don't use it though. Twenty continues at three lives a piece is plenty. Maybe not since Metal Slug was designed to eat through quarters, but that should be enough. It's definitely gonna require some more practice to get through.

Anyway, that's probably enough babbling for now. Good luck to those participating in BaD.

Thanks for reading.

I saw Ozzy twice at Ozzfest 2007 and 2008 in Dallas.

Cracked had an article about 60s Batman recently. Always got a kick out of those reruns as a kid.

I need to play my copy of BG&E on Steam. I was eyeing Metal Slug during the Winter Sale last year, but I told myself to calm down on games buying.

That's cool Joe. I looked at my ticket stub and it was 2011 when I saw Ozzy. It really didn't seem like it was THAT long ago.

I used to watch that Batman show all the time too. So it's nice to be able to finally own it. I bought too many games during the Winter sale. My willpower is almost non-existant sometimes lol.

Hell, 07 and 08 don't sound long ago to me.

And my willpower comes back when I check my bank account and loan interest in the middle of it all.

Yeah. Me neither.

I'll have to try that next time there's one of those damn Steam sales. Having a set budget would probably help a lot too.

Love the Metal Slug art. Game is hard though.

Yeah. It is. I'm becoming a lot more proficient already with practice though. I mostly stuck to MS 4 when I played the Anthology on PS2.

I won't be doing BaD either, but I'll still post some blogs and read everyone else's.

LEGO Batman 3 has a lot of funny references to the old Batman show.

Well, I'll be sure to read them. I've never played any of those LEGO games. Everybody says they are glitchy and full of bugs.

My son loves those old Batman shows.  I may have to get them for him.

I had BG&E on the GC, XB, and 360 before I finally played it on the 360.  It's a good game.

Can never have enough Metal Slug.  I have MSA on the PS2 and PSP.  I almost bought it on the Wii.  My favorite MS is the first one.  I also have it on the Wii and for my MVS.

You definitely get your money's worth. With the first season at least. It's gonna take me awhile to watch all of it.

I'm liking BG & E so far. I kind of wish I would have got it on PS2 or something so I can use a controller with it. There's probably a way to do it on PC, but I don't feel like looking it up.

MS 4 is probably my favorite out of all of them . 3 is pretty cool though because it has multiple paths to choose and what not. It gets really crazy at the end.

Have you picked up Metal Slug 7 (DS)?  I have it, but hadn't played it much.

I kind of forgot about Metal Slug 7 on DS. I'll have to look into that. Thanks for the reminder!

The old Batman series is hilarious. Just good campy fun for adults while kids can take it at surface value like a silly cartoon

Yeah. It's pretty funny. Some of the dialog has me rolling my eyes, but that's ok. I was expecting a lot of camp going in and don't take it seriously. I don't know if it would be possible to take that show seriously lol. Undecided

I remember watching it as a kid and back then it was just Batman for me. I didn't get most of the jokes until watching the shows again as an adult.

I probably didn't get a lot of the humor back then either. That didn't stop me from watching it. I had got the movie too. Now that was cheesy. They use shark repellant at one point lol.

I loved that movie. Only cheese has more cheese. :)

I love that Batman show!  But they're so expensive on BLuray!  I would really like to watch through those though.  I watched them a lot as a kid. hey, back then that was the best Batman available until the cartoon came on.

I'm just glad it finally came to DVD. I've been wanting to watch it again for forever. The Animated series is really good too. They are a little pricey, but not too bad considering how much content you get.

the animated series is on NEtflix.  I tell you though, both the NEtflix and DVD's are kind of in need of a "remastering" or "Resoration".   I guess it's because they were released back when TV was standard definition, but they don't look too good on high def tv's.  maybe they could go back to the original stuff and clean it up, I don't know.

I had heard that it's on Netflix from somewhere. I already own two volumes of TAS though, and don't mind it. So it's not too big a deal for me. Maybe they will restore it or something someday. By then I'll probably own it all and be screwed lol. Yell

The Dreaded back logs thirst will never be quenched!

I hav BG&E and are fighting the invading aliens in the city... about 3 months agoTongue Out

Love a bit of Ozzy, he can still electrify a crowd.

There's been some progress, but yeah. My backlog just keeps growing and mutating. If I was strong enough to resist buying any more games I might still be busy for a couple of years.

BG & E is pretty good so far. I figure it's about time I got around to it.

Ozzy definitely got the crowd pumped when I saw him.

I'm still debating BaD. On one hand, I actually have an idea that I can most of the month. On the other hand i've got univerrsity....

Count me in on the seen Ozzy club and not just him, but Black Sabbath last year at a Metal festival on Belgium. It was incredible and i'm quite proud of seeing the gods Metal before old age catches them.

I'm sure people would understand if you can't do it. School is really important.

That's awesome though Alex. Ozzy played a bunch of Black Sabbath songs when I saw him. I haven't seen Sabbath per se, but I did see Heaven and Hell. Which is basicly Sabbath except with Vinny Appice on drums and Ronnie James Dio on vocals. Man, I was so glad to see Dio before he passed. RIP Dio!! Cry

Beyond Good and Evil was one of those games that surprised me by how good it was.  It didn't get much fan fare on it's initial release, but gained a quite following over the years.  I really like to atmosphere and adventure elements.  I still have the piano music from the ending credits playing in my head.

I've only beat it once years ago.  But I'll be firing up that game at some point this year, I think.

Aboboisdaman

01/30/2015 at 08:24 PM

Yeah. I like how there's different types of gameplay in it. Stealth, photography, puzzle solving, racing, and what not. The atmosphere is really good too. I wasn't expecting that. Actually, I don't know what I was expecting.

I replay games all the time. I'll be playing Super C for the millionth time in a bit. My backlog probably wouldn't be nearly so insane if I didn't do that lol. Foot in Mouth

Though I have the Anthology of Metal Slug on my PS2 as well I still want to buy the digital metal slug offerings off XBLA. it'll make my system more like an online arcade machine that way. =)

Yeah. I don't regret buying MS3 and X again. Those games are great and I can play them over and over. Plus it's nice to have the option if I don't feel like hooking my PS2 up again.
