I want to play this cause I love Etrian Odyssey, but I still haven't finished Persona 3 and 4 and worry I'll be lost.
Persona Q impressions

As I mentioned in an earlier blog I sprang for Persona Q after a couple of pints dissolved my resolve not to.
I'm about 20 hours in now and it's been a great experience so far. I was worried that being a Persona/Etrian Odyssey cross that it would be all first person dungeon crawling with very little in the way of story.
Thankfully the Persona side of the crossover is the dominant one and it is very story driven with typical Persona dialog and humour.
I haven't witnessed much in the way of social links but the characters from 3 and 4 are all there and once you complete the first dungeon you can mix and match as you please.
Characters from 3 still use the evoker to shoot themselves in the head in order to release their Personas. they even discuss it with their P4 counterparts when first meeting.
The Velvet room and demon fusions are present and still a vital part of building a strong team.
Items you find in the dungeons allow you to have stronger weapons, armor and accessories made and taking breaks to exit the dungeon, heal and stock up on supplies is pretty much required.
Also from Persona is hitting enemies with their weakness or a critical attack in order to trigger the "All Out Attack" . If enough members of you team hit an enemy with an attack they are weak against you get the opportunity for them all to jump in and lay a beating on the entire enemy group. Very satisfying.
The dungeons are also theme based. The second one is based on the Group Dating display that was shown in P4 during their Culture Festival.
That's it for now.
