While my participation might not last a whole month, I'm gonna do my damn best. Today has been pretty much a slow day with me doing nothing but sleeping for work tonight. I'm still working nights as a caregiver however my shift will be changing in the coming weeks. I did some reading last night and ended up finishing the 7th novel in the Artemis Fowl series. I'm saddened by the fact that the next novel I have to read is the final one in a great series. It is a YA series but I encourage anyone of any age really to give the novels a chance. They have great stories that while end with each novel they still play a linking part to the whole series together. I still have yet to buy that final novel which my search for it begins tomorrow. I'm currently reading the Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobby and it's the first in her farseers trilogy.

cute cat.

I haven't been reading much.  But I have been writing!  That's something, I guess.  I got a new copy of Fellowship of the Ring for my birthday.  I've been wanting to read that again.

Thank you!

That's great, I know that's what you had been wanting to focus on. The LOTR series is a great read

Holy shit. I'm also reading the Assassin's Apprentice. My girlfriend has been trying to get me to read it for two years, and I finally started. Only read 2 chapters so far though.

Awww kitty.

And I wouldn't sweat reading YA, that's most of what I've read myself.

He is a hot mess,lol!

I'm not too worried about reading YA, there is alot of good books in it. I just know there are people who avoid it.

I've only read the first Artemis Fowl book. I remember liking it, but kept forgetting the other books in the series.

If you like the first one I firmly believe you will like the others. They get better and better as they go.

There was a thing on the New York Times Book Review podcast the other week about how YA has helped raise paper book sales this year. Apparently teens still want a paper book even though a lot of them have tablets or e-readers. They also mentioned as a joke, but maybe not so wrong, that adults were buying YA books on their e-readers, basically to hide it from other adults. So, hurrah for YA! It's keeping the last chain book store in my neighborhood in business.

I've read articles discussing Adults buying YA on eReaders and tablets. I don't think their wrong in that area. Some people feel like it's embarrassing but I honestly don't care when it comes to me. I still buy way more paperbacks and hardcovers than I do ebooks.

Yea, I got an e-reader a couple years ago and have read all of two. . . no. . . three books on it. I feel guilty now. Shouldn't have bought it.

I read a lot of YA.  Frequently the stories are just better. Have you ever read anything by Tamora Pierce? I have most of her books.

I've read a short stories by her, I bought a book called Young Warriors:Stories of Strength and it had a stories she wrote in it. I highly suggest It. I have been wanting to read her trickster series. A friend of mine said it's good.

Yes, the Trickster series is one of my favorites of hers. The other one is Protector of the Small. Unfortunately, I loaned them to someone and when I got them back, the first one was missing.
