Pikachu is my favorite. I love electrocuting people.
Mario is probably my second favorite, probably just because I like Mario so damn much.

Choose your Veteran!
As you all know, Super Smash Bros. is my most favorite fighting game series of all time, and I owe alot to that series which might be a future post. Like with any game in the series, it's always exciting to see who are returning fighters. Why? Because either your favorite made it in or they didn't. And like with every new game, they tend to change a veteran fighters moveset, sometimes it's a major change or some minor tweaks to the character. Sometimes that can be either a good thing or bad thing depending if that particular character was your main fighter you played as. On this I will list my favorite veterans in no particular order, 7 of them because 5 is too little and 10 is too much.
Mario
Mario is a well rounded fighter and he should be because he always has balanced stats in every other Mario game out there like 3D World and any spin-off game. He's easy to use for beginners but also a great fighter for veterans. Also, not sure but he seems a bit more stronger this time around.
Fox
Fox is a character that alot of pros like using for some reason, I don't know, I don't really pay attention to whos the top tier character pros use but I know Fox is one of them. I've always liked Fox. He isn't the strongest, but what he lacks in strenght he makes up for it in speed. Plus he can reflect any projectile attack. That's a win in my book.
Marth
Alot of people like Marth, I'm one of those people and I know someone else on here who does too. He is really fast, not the fastest but fast enough, but he is also hits hard in the right hands. He isn't as strong as Roy (not Roy Koopa) or Ike, but you can chain up some pretty impressive sombos with him. Plus one thing that's special about his sword is that he dishes more damage if you hit your opponent with the tip of the sword. Also, he can break your shield if you charge his b move all the way. And he can counter pretty much almost any move.
Pit
Pit actually got a huge change with his moveset, 3/4 of his moves are changed and I thing that makes him a much better fighter now. He seems like a more balanced fighter, he has weapons and he can reflect projectiles at enemies too, plus he can get close and personal with his side b move or from far away with his bow. His up move is different which sucks but I guess it's all for the better.
Link and Toon Link
I put them both here because they are basically the same character, with a few differences. They are mostly the same but with a few tweaks. Link is slower but strnger, and Toon Link is faster but weaker. I like them both but I prefer Toon Link in SSB because of how agile he is.
Captain Falcon
When they were announcing the characters, I was a bit worried Captain Falcon wasn't going to make it. Did you know when Lucina and Robin where announced, people were more excited for Captain Falcon? It's true. I can't blame them. All I know is that I can Falcon Punch in HD. Also I think his knee move has been fixed, I don't think it's up to Melee standards but better than Brawl. Plus, out of all the original 12 fighters, he had the most original moveset, since all the other fighters had moves from their games, they had to invent something for Falcon cause he's from a racing game.
Zero Suit Samus and Samus
No matter how much Sakurai wants us to believe they are seperate characters, I'm still not buying it. Zero Suit Samus got a serious overhaul in terms of moves and appearance. Her up b move is probably one of the best in the game and she feels much more stronger now, infact she feels like a new character in a way. Samus is largely the same, the only difference is that Samus looks like her Other M counterpart.
Dishonorablr mention:
Ugh, where to start? I was hoping Ganondorf would get a new moveset when alot of returning characters where getting new moves, but no. You'd think someone as important as the Demon King of Evil would get a great moveset, but no. He's a clone of Captain Falcon, only much more worse. Project M, yes I've played it and it was great, gave Ganondorf a sword to use. I almost cried when I saw that because his moveset was a bit different too. Hopefully Smash 5 gives him a new moveset.
Well those are my veteran choices. did I miss any of your favorites? Next time I'll talk about my favorite newcomers. Thanks for reading and remember:
Being BaD isn't Good, otherwise you'd end up as inferior Falcon up there...

Man, you never get tired of using Sonic as your punching bag :P
For veterans from all the way before Melee, my favorites are Link, Samus, Fox and Kirby, with Pikachu and Donkey Kong as honorable mentions. On Melee and Brawl, Sonic, Lucario and Ike are my favorites, with the honorable mentions being Olimar, Peach, Mr Game and Watch, Toon Link, Marth, Dedede and Wario.
Of course, i'm talking hypothetically since I still don't have Smash 4.
