It's Thursday and Mothman's been shopping

I woke up early this morning. Yep, still unemployed, still need to look for a job but what the heck, let's go shopping.

Actually we went to check out the final day of a Zeller's store in the East end of our city. Zeller's was the last of a dying breed, a Canadian owned discount department store. Tergit  sorry, Target bought them out, turning a few of them into Target stores and closing the rest. The one we went to this morning in one of the closing for good ones.

For their final day everything that was left was going for 90% off. I actually went there looking for Lost Odyssey which they were selling for $13.99 last time I checked. I already own a copy of the game which has been well loved but I noticed that it sells for $40.00 or more new on-line so I thought it might be good for my inventory on Amazon. Sadly someone smarter than me had already snapped it up.

Rather than go home empty handed I scoured the store and picked up the following to sell (all new).

Me and My Katamari (PSP) - $1.23

The Warriors (PSP) - .49 cents

Dead Head Fred (PSP) - .49 cents

Killzone Liberation (PSP) - .99 cents

They're not worth a ton but at those prices I may turn a small profit on them so what the heck.

I also picked up 3 PC games because, er, because, ......... Shut up! That's why. Yeah I know I won't play them but my son might.

Trine - $1.49

Torchlight - $1.49

Obscure: The Aftermath - $1.49

I already have that Obscure game for PS2 (and it's really cheezy) but Christien plays mostly PC now so I thought "why not?"

Then I came home and picked up a 750 GB drive for my PS3 on-line for $66.00, so I'm off to back up my 320 GB in preparation for the cut over. The 750 should hold me for a while although with my luck I'll get it up and running and my launch model "George Foreman" PS3 will up and die on me.

I know how being unemployed feels. I was for a long time, and given how frequently work has been calling, may as well be now. It sucks.

But those are some great deals! Sad to see a place go but 90% off is one hell of a bargain!

Yeah between my wife and I we paid 20 bucks for 200 dollars worth of stuff. :)

Torchlight was ok. Torchlight 2 is way better! It's like the sequel to Diablo 2 that we never got. No always online DRM bullcrap. I loved it. That's some great deals. I guess it won't matter though since you don't play pc games lol.

Hey, if somebody gets some use out of them that's ok with me.

those are cheap games, man.  I don't see why you couldn't flip them on Amazon.  You'd never find them that cheap there.

I don't know what kind of drive I have for my PS3 but it's small, I always have to delete stuff.  Next time I will lean toward a larger drive.

I bought Katamari PSP for my wife, because she loves those games. I got Killzone for free off of PSN when the system got hacked.

Dude, I well remember the days of video game shopping despite being unemployed.  enjoy it while you can and don't sweat the small stuff.  This blog also reminds me that I need to finish We Love Katamari.

Peter, we call that Retail Therapy.

I rather enjoyed Torchlight. Too bad Torchlight 2 is a PC only title and wasn't released on Live. The first one is a single player game that begs for co-op. The second one added it.

Our Zellers all closed down right before Christmas there. I scoured them for good game deals, but it was all shovelware or old PC games they'd found in the back, haha. I scored a few blu-rays, I think, but that was it. Target was supposed to open here soon, but I think they pushed it back a few months.

Wow, I have a 120 GB for my PS3 and I can't imagine ever capping that, haha.

You are one hell of a deal hunter! My hat is off to you...nice job. I only make lucky finds like those once in a blue moon around here. Mostly at garage sales. I almost bought Obscure for PS2 the other day. Looks like one with a good story and interesting characters. Those PSP games you found....Wow!

I make no warranty for Obscure. It's pretty low budget and cheesy. LOL I bought it to see if it plays any better on PC

I played the first one a bit when it was available for Xbox. I don't remember it to well

I've been watching Killzone Liberation for a while. Never seen it for less than $10 new, so $.99? Dang! Can't beat that price! I love the thrill of finding good games for cheap Smile

at those prices I would've bought those games too if I were still unemployed.

I need to see about upgrading my PS3 memory soon too. my 120 GB's is starting to run low. Just need to find a high enough GB to last me for a LONG time.
