Pixlbit Nation how has your first week of Blog A Day? See/read anything interesting? I have to admit I’m falling behind on my comments again, but I am reading your thoughts, and checking out your pictures. A big thank you to you folks who took time to look through my BaD stuff! I like being part of an active community where everyone has different opinions and doesn’t bring in the drama of being a fanboy/fangirl/fanlittlegreenmen into their comments. Since this is a Friday I’m going back to my regularly scheduled program of having this week’s Quick Hits. No worries my Game Library blogs will be back on maybe Tuesday, so sit back, relax, and let’s get this Quick Hits started!

Chris Watches Stuff

Arrow (It’ll be the black bar edition. Highlight if you want to read my thoughts about this show, there could be some spoilers so that's why we have the black bars)

Ok so I never really grew up with Comics but I knew who the heavy hitters are: Batman, Superman, Spiderman, etc., so when we had movies about Iron-Man, and Guardians of the Galaxy, I am a bit lost but thank goodness for movies and TV Shows I’ve got the basic ideas about them and the same applies to Green Arrow. I didn’t know much about him, but I always saw the coverart on Netflix and last week I decided to give it a watch and immediately I was hooked. Arrow is freaking amazing! At first I was calling him Green Batman because of some of the similarities with the guy in Gotham. I am a fan of Season 1. I told my friend its like the Christian Bale Batman trilogy shoved into twenty-three episodes. There is a ton of action, the inner conflict of the main character, protecting the people of the city, and thrown in for good measure the love interest. Ok the last part I had a problem with. Oh my goodness after a certain point I got frustrated with the whole “We should be together/no we shouldn’t” aspect of Laurel and Oliver. Of course then you throw in Oliver’s best friend Tommy who absolutely broke the bro code (c’mon man you don’t date your bro’s ex) and they became annoying. Finally it looked like it was all coming together and then boom Season 2.

Yeah Season 2 started off as a huge letdown because there was no connection between Laurel and Oliver, he left Starling, and seriously do we need more Laurel crying? Just when I was going to give up on this season and skip to Season 3, it picked up with a long lost person, and I got dragged back in. I’m currently on Episode 7 and I’ll probably watch right after I finish this entry.

Felicity Smoak is easily my favorite character on the show. Her awkward lines, are what caught me and I wish she’d get more air time. Thank goodness this season she’s on screen more than Laurel, and since I have no idea what happens in the comics (don’t spoil it) I’m hoping Oliver and her become a thing. Judging by other TV Shows this will probably won’t happen and most likely there will be more Laurel in the picture.*

*This is what bugged me with Smallville. Lana was getting annoying and Chloe was perfect for Clark, but Clark was an idiot. I stopped watching after Season 3 or 4.

Going back to Arrow, after watching this show, the Lego Batman 3 DLC makes so much more sense

There was a lot of “Hey I know that person” and of course there was a couple of spoilers but hey it’s all-good. Anyways here’s hoping to Season 2 keeps its present trajectory of being just as good as Season 1.

Real World Skeletons

In the past episodes I’ve been a fan of Violetta, so much so that I’ve been calling her MVP Violetta because she’s the most explosive person on the show, but last episode she became annoying and a sloppy drunk. Leading up to tonight she talked a big game about being this tough chick, who was going to drop the hammer on her skeletons, and when they arrived, she disappeared. Yeah the week before she had no problem putting hands on Madison, but when these two showed up who really didn’t feel the same way toward her she was quiet. She then focuses her anger towards fellow housemate Bruno, who didn’t back down. It was probably bad editing but she kept saying “Byeeeeee” after every insult and thank goodness Bruno didn’t take a swing. Once again the only person I’d hang out with on that show is Nicole because she seems like the most real person on that show.

Agent Carter

Going back to my TV Shows that are somehow tied into Superheroes, Agent Carter has been solid and next week’s episode should be good. I kind of have an idea of how the end of the show will play out, but things are getting good and some familiar faces are seen.

Fresh Off The Boat

So this was a new show that I had to watch because I’m Asian. I figured that it would be terrible and would be cancelled but so far the show has it’s moments where its funny. This morning I saw this article on Buzzfeed

A couple of these things have happened to me when I was younger. Heck my last name still gets butchered which I find hilarious. I don’t even try to help anymore, I just wait to hear what they say. This show might have a chance to survive.

What Else Is Chris Up To?

  • I’m still taking pictures of my games. I still have maybe five consoles to take pictures of and that will be my project this weekend.
  • I’ve been looking at good beginner DSLR’s. I’m not big into photography but I figured I should have a decent camera. I’ve found a couple that might suit me (nothing too flashy or expensive, just to learn on). The last digital photography class I took was while I was in college and took a class at the local JC to earn some credits. I don’t know if I will actually pickup one, I might use my 52-week challenge money on one.
  • I’ve been waking up an hour earlier to watch an episode of Arrow before I get up. Thanks Netflix on iPad!
  • Next week is the big Festival around here and I’m debating if I should go again just for lunch. If I do I’ll probably take pictures of some random fried concoction that I shouldn’t be eating that is loaded with enough calories to keep in a gym for a week.
  • Because of the Super Bowl Katy Perry songs have been stuck in my head. I think I know the lyrics to Roar now. I like to blame the Seahawks OC for also making this call.

Pickups!

Games

I didn’t buy any games this week because I’m trying to play through some of my stuff. I thought about it a couple of times especially with the Disney Infinity dropping to $40. That was tough call, but I did download the latest PS+ stuff

I do like the Playstation App where I can just “purchase” them there and then download later on.

Music

Ok I did spend real money on a couple of albums this week. I opted for Digital for these albums because the local stores did not carry them and I didn’t want to wait to order physical copies.*

*After I typed that it turns out they are available at Target so it looks like I might be picking up the physical versions today, probably during breakfast.

Diana Krall’s latest album is a collection of covers which is interesting to listen to especially since her other stuff is all jazz. I mainly wanted this album for her covers of Eagles hit’s Desperado, and I Can’t Tell You Why

Fifth Harmony was a girl group I watched on X-Factor. I didn’t think they were going to win because I wanted this teen girl to win (I thought she had a hell of a voice). Anyways their EP wasn’t bad so I took a chance on their album. It’s not the greatest but it’s full of poppy goodness.

This was free on Google Play

I like Kaskade, and I bought a couple of tracks of his as well as an album on iTunes.

This was stuck in my head for a bit

Alright Pixlbit I am off to pick up breakfast (chorizo burrito if you’re wondering), and enjoy my burrito while watching the next episode of Arrow (I might need an Arrow intervention at some point. If I start wearing a lot of green it might be time). Anyways have a good weekend Pixlbit!

I really need to make this out of my Lego

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

this blog looks like it was heavily redacted by the CIA.

I've been meaning to get into Arrow, but I have a hard time focusing on passive media like TV shows.  I dunno why.  I can watch sports though.

I got a DSLR for xmas.  Have only used it a little though.  Plan to use it more when I travel later this year.

Haha yeah it give that look. I remember my early attempts I would purposely uncover words like "an" and "the" to give that extra CIA look.

Arrow is so good. I'm a bit worried about what happens when I go through all of the seasons and have to wait.

I have a basic understanding of the DSLR but I need to put in actual practice. It's not a need right now, but when I save enough from my 52 Week Challenge I'll pick one up.

I get the butchering of names. To this day, I still have Norwegian friends who can't get the pronunciation of my first name right. The way they say it sounds like they're calling me Tommy. I have no scruples what-so-ever just coming right out and asking people what the proper pronunciation is.
