So my friend and I were talking about the 80's, something we do often because we are way too nostaligic for our own good, when she mentioned the Back to the Future shoes Nike is making and how ridiculous they are. This got me to thinking about how cool sneakers were in th 80's and how ugly and retarded they are today. I miss the fat oversized tongues and padded collars. Fat laces, simple colors, and moddest sized logos and names. Some of the shoes nowadays look like an alien turd, wavy sculpted foam with loud neon colors, or the shoe is a giant billboard smothered in over sized names and logos. It almost seems like shoe makers are competing to see who can make the ugliest shoes. One of my favorite pair of shoes when I was a kid were a pair of white leather Keds high tops. The cool thing about Keds were you could customize the the little double triangle logo. The little plastic triangles snapped on & off and you could get them in a variety of colors. And yes, I am aware that this blog make me sound like one of those old farts going "well back in my day". But I am starting to undersatnd those old farts now. Go figure.
