Considering I really only play happy, silly Kirby type games, my answer this time is just "Duuuuuhhhhhhh...."

Personally I don't want sexuality in my video games any more than I want going to the toilet in them. I mean Persona has dating and yes you can take a leak to make yourself feel better but Im talking about sex scenes and overtly sexual content.

Can't stand 'em in movies and don't want them in my games. They add nothing to the story so I see them as being filler.

It we are talking about a character's orientation then I don't care are long as they aren't some irritating stereotype.

Old school.  You, I, my mother and Ridley Scott agree (even though the scripts force his hand some of the time).  Bodily funcitons almost never serve any narrative purpose.  I don't need any protracted scenes of people eating breakfast either.

LOL agreed on that point too. It's like "get the fuck on with it already...." I guess if there was funny or story moving dialog during the breakfast it might be acceptable. 

There would be no Breaking Bad without breakfast scenes.

While a lot of sex is served merely as titilation, I feel that if it is used as a plot device or to further either the tone or characters in some meaningful way it can be awesome. There are sex scenes in Girls, for instance, that are so awkward, so unnatractive, and are just plain funny. I think they serve a purpose. Same with the awesomely hilarious sex scene in the Fargo show. For a more serious take, the ones in Breaking Bad are fantastic, as they help show where Walt is as a character. 

Ok I'll give you the Fargo sex scenes, particularly the one where Billy Bob comes in and shoots the guy. Comedy gold. But that's not what I'm on about.

i think it's chill, but i don't need gratuitous stuff either.  TV shows these days have so much gratuitous nudity these days, and while I like boobs and butts and all, I just feel like that shit is always trying to titillate me rather than tell a good story.  I think video games are fine for depicting love and sex, why should we not have that stuff in this medium when they're in every other?

Not always. Sometimes they can be used to build character or advance the story, i.e. the Fargo TV series (which is the best thing to come out since breaking bad) or... well, Breaking Bad.

yeah i don't have any problems with it, it just seems some cable shows now it's sort of a prerequisite to have as much nudity as possible.  Like I said though, I do like T&A.  

Yep. My grandmother is massively into game of thrones, and it's just really awkward watching it with her because of that haha. 

hey, maybe she likes it!  I've been thinking of finally watching that show.  seems like a big time commitment at this point though.  

As long as it's important to the story, I don't care what is put in a game.  I'm more interested in the connection of the people involved in the relationship than the sex bits.  Games like Mass Effect and Dragon Age allow the player to start romantic relationships with other characters, but I would love more done with it.  More dialog between yourself and your romance and more banter from the other characters about your relationship and what they think about it.  It's there in some games, but I wish there was more.  I want to see interaction between characters evolve into more than just background or only main plot driven.  Maybe have the relationships drive more of the plot.

That would be cool. Imagine if the Fable system were better implemented. You take some time out of a mission to take someone on a date. You do a few dates and then stuff happens. There could be repurcussions. You could be so terrible they never talk to you again, or one of you gets pregnant, or STDs happen. You can get married, have a child - all of that happens along side a long form narrative. 

 I think that could be cool. Commander Shepherd... more like commander Syphilus.

I really don't have a problem with sex in video games, but I don't think I would actually play a game that was just centered around sex. I think the closest game would be the old Leasure Suit Larry games, and the God of War Sex mini games, but you didn't see anything in those games. If there were games that revolved around sex I would hope that they would be viewed in the same light as a Call of Duty (be over 17 to purchase with id, etc.) and deemed porographic by loud people. 

There are plenty of games centred around sex. They're just usually on 18+ sites, or dating sims. Or visual novels. Seriously, the sex stuff goes a bit too far in those two genres, even in awesome games like Song of Saya... which is basically Silent Hill but more fucked up.

Oh god, Please don't say that game title. I've only read one review on that game it just fucked me up so bad. Like my stomach is queasy right now thinking about it.

And answer the question, unless it something meaningful, sex isn't really needed. I haven't played a game yet that hasn't treated sex beyond a superfical reward or object.

Really? Huh. I thought it was cool, but I like messed up stuff. Was it one of the images, or the description?

I was looking at the demon design in Diablo III and wondered why they weren't scarier or more profane. I mean, since sexuality is such a bugaboo in Christianity (which this game seems really to be based on - I saw a backdrop that looked like a part of the sistine chapel and Diablo could easily be called Satan), why don't the demons portray gortesque organs or revel in inuendo or outright profanity. Even the Queen of the Lustful (or whatever her name was) doesn't really express any sexuality except by suggestive tone of voice. I feel like it's another example of how games are really just entertainment and can't take any risk at offending anyone. That may change though, but I think only indie games are going to be more daring.
