BaD; Backlogs & Discipline

The trailer for Persona 5 made me realize that I need to finish up Persona 4. I have been out of the RPG loop far too long. I am a little intimidated though because I have not played this game in almost 4 years. Even with the strat guide, I'm not sure how easy it will be to get back into it. I also need to finish the secondary semi sequel at the end of Persona 3 FES. In fact I have been thinking of taking a break from my PS3 and dig into my PS2 backlog. In particular the rpgs, Suikoden V, Star Ocean, and Dark Cloud 2, and Grandia 3 just to name a few. Whats bad is I have gotten a good ways into all of these games, but I have not played any of one them in 4 or 5 years now, and I don't want to start over. First world problems, I know.lol

On a similar note I think I am also going to scale back how much time I spend playing video games. I spend way too much time on this "hobby" and this is just one of many aspects of my life of where I need a bit more self discipline. I have gotten my diet and alcohol consumption down dramatically and lost 37lbs in the last 6 months. So it is time to take the next step.

Not the most interesting blog, but still getting the hang of BaD. As always thanks for reading. Gemini out!

Suikoden V is great. Star Ocean: 'Til the End of Time is overly long and the reveal at the beginning of disk 2 basically ruined the whole series for me. The mechanic of dying from lack of MP in that game also pissed me off to no end.

I never played the P3 Epilog. I started it but it made me depressed so I put it away.

There are lot of cool ideas in Star Ocean, just not all very are well done. I really liked Second Story a lot so I had high hopes. The Persona epilog is a bit darker, but its also a straight up dungeon crawl. There are none of the "sim" aspects. Its more about combat and creating persona. It was also a bit tougher than the main game from what I remember.

I love ps2 rpg's almost as much as ps1 rpg's.  There's a lot i missed too, like Digital Devil Saga and Dark Cloud, and I haven't finished Xenosaga either. My ps2 is kind of in a state of disrepair, and I've been thinking of buying a new one just to catch up on these and others.

Yeah, those were just the top of the list. The backlog is deep.lol  I actually bought a back up PS2 for that very reason, just in case my old one craps out.

When a lot of time as passed since I last played any game, I just start all over.  I forget so much of the story that it's hard to continue to care about it or the characters.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I could read the strat guide to get back on track, but its not the same. Plus relearning the mechanics of the game when I'm a good ways in and the difficulty has bumped up can make it hard too.

Way to go on the weight loss!

I actually haven't gamed in forever and need to find time to enjoy that wall of money I threw at Steam, but I just can't find the time lately.

Thanks. I'm 5'10 and was weighing 227lb, heaviest I have ever been in my life. I'm down to 188 but my goal is 165-170. It just kind of happened by accident, I just started eating veggies, drank less and switched to light beer. I changed my diet just to eat healthier, I wasn't working out so I didn't expect to lose weight.

Thats a bummer, sounds like your in right the oppisite position as me.lol  I'll trade you some slackerness for some self discipline.

I have a horrible backlog of RPGs. I buy them because I know they're good but then I never play them because I know they're long. Xenoblade Chronicles and Persona 3 are two of the big monkeys sitting on my back that I'd like to get around to playing soon Yell Working my way through Final Fantasy II right now.

I got about 15 hours into Xenoblade. I really need to dust that one off too. Persona 3 is very well paced, but I think I still logged close to 50 hours into it on the first play through. I started game + but never got back to it.

I'd always heard Persona 3 was 100+ hours but you're the second person on Pixlbit to tell me that isn't necessarily the case. That gives me hope Smile

If it is Persona 3 FES, the main game and epiolog together probably is a 100 hour adventure.

I cut back on Saturday gaming a while back. Now it's just Sunday/Monday. I'd like to get to 20 hours a week max, but right now I'm more like 25. Then there's the writing. I think I'm going to stop writing in the afternoons so I can do more exercise stuff and just write a couple times a week.

I'm probably pushing 30+ hours a week. I need to get some where between 15-20. I have no self control with video games.lol
