Actually, I consider myself a good person. Bad guy just happens to rhyme with Jedi and these titles are all roundabout references.

Oh, here's an article I wrote yesterday about the possible live-action Zelda coming to Netflix:

http://plus10damage.com/blog/2015/2/8/do-i-really-want-a-live-action-zelda

I wrote a separate article yesterday too, which I'll post here once it's published. Well, the link to it. In that one, I said I'd play Hotline Miami, so I guess I have to now. Tongue Out

Anyway, just in my office getting ready for my postponed thesis meeting. I'm less nervous than I was on Thursday about the meeting, partly because I have stuff prepared already, where I was rushing a bit for the last one. And let's be real, I'll be more nervous around 2:30PM when it's scheduled, but for now? Eh.

After that, it's working out with the run club and doing my weight lifting. Then I need to get all my protein in at once, which is not going to taste great, but oh well.

And I've noticed I have very different tastes than most people when it comes to entertainment. Sometimes I'm the niche of my own niche, even if I like mainstream stuff.

Anyway, what are you up to?

I don't know if I want to see a live action Zelda show.  It's good that Netflix is trying.  I hope it works out.

It could be great or hilariously bad. Either way, I'll watch it, but I hope it's good so it won't get people thinking the actual Zelda series is as bad as the show.

all the protein in at once, eh?  I do that with carbs!

i think a lot of people have niche tastes these days as there's more niche media.  Even my parents, who favor pretty simple british detectives and light entertainments will surprise me sometimes with weird choices they enjoy.

Like I said in my blog, I've got the new TV now, and I want to watch more films again.  Both ones I've seen before, and new and old ones I've missed.

These are my favorite working directors:

Scorcese

Nolan

Tarantino

Malick

Wes Anderson

Paul Thomas Anderson

I really recommend Malick if you haven't check out his stuff.  Might not be your cup of tea, but might as well cross him off your list.

I agree people have niche tastes. I think they always have and just more is available. But I've seen a bad adaptation do damage to the perception of its source material, which I think is unfair.

I know all those directors, but indeed the only one whose films I haven't seen are Malick's, though I think we watched Thin Red Line in high school. Funny you mention him, because my favorite Internet reviewer personality (Cinema Snob) haaaaates him and thinks his movies are the most pretentious nothing things ever. But I might like them, since I don't really agree with Cinema Snob on a lot of movies (I did not like Halloween III near as much as him for instance).

you should check them out.  I find the word "pretentious" is the most overused and incorrectly used word in the history of man.  Tongue Out  My favorite Malick movie is "New World" which is a retelling of Pocahontas.

Tree of Life sounds pretentious to me, but I'll make that call when I see it. How many retellings of Pocahontas aer there? Or is this a more accurate historic portrayal of that subject?

hmmm, I don't know how accurate it is but probably more accurate than Disney's  Tongue Out

I just think it's a good love story of a woman having her first love with one man, but finding her true love with someone else.  I think that is a story many people live, but hollywood doesn't tell much.  Plus, it's a really life affirming, spiritual movie.

I’m curious about the Zelda show and I’m like you in that I’m sure I’ll end up watching it no matter what.  I do wonder about that Game of Thrones comparison though.  I have to think that they were just throwing out the name of a current and popular fantasy show and not trying to make any real comparison.  Game of Thrones is all about political intrigue and character development.   I love Zelda games and play them all, but the story and the characters are all extremely shallow.  If they are really planning on fleshing out the world of Zelda and making the story and the characters more complex then I'm all for it, but they don’t have all that much to work with.

I think they could add a lot to work with. We'll see.

I'm not a fan of the Zelda games, but I would check out the first couple of episodes. I like that Netflix is venturing out with their own programming, and with the success of HoC, I think Zelda could be another hit.

You watch Orange is the New Black?

I can't get into Orange is the New Black. I tried watching two episodes and so far it just hasn't clicked. It might be one of those shows were down the road I'm searching for something to watch I might get hooked. As of right now, I'm not really interested in it.

That's how I was. Not a fan of the first episode at all. It did get better for me though. Especially when they start giving some of the inmate backstories.

You know I"m actually playing a part in that Zelda series.

Not really, I was just seeing if you'd believe it.

Did you do your workouts today?

Yeah, "ran" (jogged at a light pace) two miles with the group, then we ate at a Mexican place called Casa Tomas (shoulda said know, but my body knew that was an irregular meal and errr ... regulated it for me), then did overhead press, lunges, bicep curls and planks at the gym.

And you never know, they might need people to play new characters in that series and some of it could be filmed in Dallas area to save money.

I don't know if I'd want to watch that Zelda series. It could be good, but it could also be bad. Really bad. Nintendo said they would never give Link a voice. That seems like a huge obstacle to overcome right from the get go. Undecided

The willingness of Nintendo to give Link a voice may directly correlate to how much money they believe they'll make or lose in giving him one.

This project doesn't even have a writer yet, but it's interesting to think about.

I'm keeping a low hype on the Zelda tv series. Like many people have pointed out, it could turn surprisingly good or VERY bad. Even if I do love Game of Thrones, that comparasion may not be good.

Naked Zelda. Bloody Ganondorf. I'm sold.

I'm not sure what to think of the possibility of a live-action Zelda series, but at least Netflix has a decent track record with its original shows. That gives me some comfort.

It does with the two biggest ones it's made. I love House of Cards and Orange is the New Black. Marco Polo seems good. Haven't heard a lot of good things about Hemlock Grove though .... like any network, they have their draws and their clunkers. We'll see. I think they could make Zelda good if it ever does happen. I just really hope they invest in it properly, because if not ... oh God, what if they attach Shyamalan to it?!

I feel the same way sometimes. Even my brother questions some of the movies/shows I like, and we usually mesh on so many other things.

And nothing much going on with me, just beat Persona Q. Good times.

I really love some movies other people hate. Oh well.

I think my slight issues of muscle fatigue of late are related to low protein. So I'm going to up the dose and see what happens.

I take 150 grams of brotein a day ... well, I'm supposed to.
