I reviewed most of the Bit.Trip games on Wii. They're really cool but also really hard!

Those who have read my second part of standout games i've played in 2014 may remember my inclusion of Bit.Trip Beat, the first game of the Bit.Trip saga. I really enjoyed it, so on the mid-sale Steam did last year, I bought its continuation for just 1 buck. Made by Gaijin Games (now apparently called Choice Provisions), Core was originally released on 2009 for the Wii just like the first game and even avaiable four months after Beat
Bit.Trip Core continues the Beat tradition of Atari 2600 inspired nice graphics on acid and hard rhythm gameplay set by its predecessor, but while Beat was inspired by Pong, Core changes the mechanics; here you have a cross that shoots lasers on beats using the keyboards directional or WASD keys, in conjuction with the space bar.
I gotta admit, I started the game with the left foot. Since nowhere it said you could also use the directional keys, I started kinda frustrated at Gaijin for its impractical and uncomfortable controls with the WASD keys and was even baffled why they didn't include a pad option. I'm still baffled at the latter, but now that I discovered you could also use the directionals, the game turned much better and precise.
I don't have much to say really. Once you get the hang of the controls, you start to improve and advance further into the stage/song, the music gets intense as you progress and there's more precision involved. One thing I should also say is that this game is also as hard as Beat (even on easy) and still has some problems with trial-and-error. I also should say that the boss is also so hard I simply haven't beaten it. Fuck that third wave of beats!
Despite that, i'm having a kind-of equal entertainment like in the first game. I just need to damn beat the first boss.
On other news:
- I forgot to mention that last weekend I decided to take advantage of the Square-Enix sale on Steam and buy Deus Ex: Human Revolution-Director's Cut. Divine Divinity was also pretty cheap so I bought that too.
- I don't care about the Grammys and I usually just wait to see the next day the winners while also snark at some choice nominations. However next morning didn't prepare me for Beck turning out to be the winner of the night, beating freaking Beyonce!...... And i'm all grateful for it.
