I can understand wanting fighters on a handheld, they're good pick-up and play titles.

Pixlbit Happy Tuesday! For you East Coasters again Stay Warm! As the Blog A Day rolls on it is time to get back to my Game Collection blogs. For today I am going to skip around a bit and go with one of my favorite handhelds that seems to get a lot of hate because of a perceived “lack of games”, and that is the Sony Vita. At first I was a little hesitant to purchase a Vita because of the nub problems I had with the PSP. I loved the PSP but the nub issues soured me a bit but I think once I either buy replacement nubs for both PSP’s (1000 and 3000 versions) I’ll be happy.
Going back to the PS Vita, I bought my Vita after Christmas a couple of years ago because Target had a bunch of Online Returns and they were dropped to I think $170 and it came with Call of Duty. I didn’t really care for Call of Duty so that was eventually traded into GameStop (one of my rare trade-ins) and eventually I will buy another complete copy to add to my library.
Need for Speed: Most Wanted - I bought this game at the same time I bought my Vita. My expectations were high because I enjoyed the Android version, and I was excited to know that my career progress in the Android game would transfer to the handheld. This is such a good racing game with a lot of content. Touch My Katamari - I haven’t played much of this game, but from what I have seen it is very similar to the PS2 version that I enjoyed. Madden 13 – This scratches the football itch. It’s not the greatest football game but it fills the roll. Lumines – This is a fantastic series that I got hooked on during the PSP run. It is bright, with matching club music and the various game modes make this game enjoyable. In my opinion this is a perfect portable game. Mortal Kombat – It is a scaled down version of the console games. I’m close to halfway through after having a break between plays. Asphalt Injection – Another franchise I got to know through mobile gaming. This is a fun racer, and think of it as a Burnout game if Burnout didn’t involve crashing. Metal Gear Solid – It is a port of MGS 2 and 3. I have never played 3 so that was my main purpose for buying this game. I’m a bit rusty on MGS2 and I seem to have forgotten how to get to the lower part of the ship. Resistance: Burning Skies – At some point I want to try the option of using the PS Vita as a controller on the PS3 version of Resistance.
Sonic All-Stars Racing – Think of it as a Mariokart clone with Sega Characters mixed in with Danica Patrick. Angry Birds Star Wars – Yet another mobile game that I bought on a handheld. Apparently there are console exclusive levels but just like the mobile game, I haven’t ventured that deep into the game. Gravity Rush – Picked up to replace a digital copy. I gave it a second chance try and I’m actually starting to like this game. Lego Marvel – It is a different take on the console game, and this is a port of the 3DS version. There are a couple of trophies that are giving me hell or else this game would be Platinum #8. Little Deviants – It is a fun game but it seems like more of a demo for what the Vita can do. Ridge Racer – I do love the RR franchise and there are a lot of familiar tracks in this game. I am currently stuck trying to race this supped up bad guy. I should read with the Internet says about how to beat him. Hot Shots Golf – Another old familiar face that I enjoy. I really need to jump back into this game but the one thing holding me back is this course where you have to use the touch features to play. I really wish companies would stop forcing people to use all the gadgets the handheld features. At least make them optional. Borderlands 2 – If you haven’t read any of my previous blogs I absolutely love this game! I don’t get dizzy, I enjoy the pop culture references, and this is one of the few games I continue to play after finishing off the story mode. Injustice – It is the same as the console versions, but I do love fighting the DC characters. If you haven’t heard I’ve really enjoyed binge watching Arrow (SUCH A GOOD SHOW, and yes I’m in the Olicity camp even though it doesn’t fit with the comic book story) and Green Arrow in the game makes more sense to me. I guess I should take up watching the Flash as well.
MLB 12 The Show – This game got me back into baseball on a handheld. As much as I love the old 2K series, this is a much better product. Uncharted – This is such a good franchise, and this prequel is good. The only thing I can complain about is that the swipe fighting was shoehorned into the game. Bringing the Vita to a light source, using the touch screen to wipe items, and other nifty uses of the Vita’s gadgets work well and that is how you use all the features properly. MLB 14 The Show – This game I bought as the same time as my PS3 version and I absolutely love it as well. I jumped on getting both because of the crossover feature as well as being able to import my player’s career into MLB 15, which comes out at the end of next month. I’m hoping I can take Video Game Chris out of the Dodgers and move him to a team I like (I kind of want to sign with either the Angels, Padres, Giants, or Cubs). Mod Nation Racers – Think of a highly customizable Mariokart. I still need to jump back into this series. Batman – I am stuck. If I ever find my way out of the map I am in I should be able to finish the game within the week. Wipeout 2048 – Another old familiar face. I played the hell out of the previous games and I haven’t had the same drive to play this game.
The next two I bought recently and I was actually going to keep for Quick Hits on Friday but since this is the Vita Library why not share them here
Blazblue – I bought this game to replace my digital copy. I seem to enjoy fighters on handhelds more than consoles for some odd reason. Dynasty Warriors 8 – Full disclosure, I never understood the concept of these games except to run around and kill a ton of people. I used to buy these games just for the fact that you can wipe out entire armies, but after playing a mission in this game, everything is starting to click, and I am beginning to enjoy the game as a whole. I should buy the PS3 version to try the importing my game saves between both versions.
Well Pixlbit this is my Vita library. I still have a bunch of digital games like Killzone, and I think a couple of others that I would like to buy the physical versions of. It saves on the space on the memory card and it is always good to have a physical copy.
That’s all for now, more tomorrow!
-Chris
I do love the Bond Theme Songs, and this is one of my favorites
