I need to re-watch The Princess Bride.
Valentine Reviews

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, here is another batch of games I’ve been reviewing lately over at GamerDad.com. Please click on the links and read as many as you can, and maybe even post a comment or two. I’d really appreciate it. Also, I have pretend Valentine’s Day presents for everyone who reads this blog, too!
Valentine’s Day can be a discouraging holiday if you’re single. I try not to let it discourage me, but I do have to say that it gets harder every year. But at least I’m only discouraged and not depressed. I just try and focus on letting all my family and friends know how much I care about them, and that includes you guys and gals reading this blog, too! So I’ve got a pretend Valentine’s Day gift to all of you. It’s a pretend heart-shaped box of chocolates. And since it’s pretend, I can say that these chocolates will give you super powers if you eat them, and you’ll be able to beat up all the bad guys! You can give me a pretend present, too, if you want, but you don’t have to. Just knowing that you are reading and commenting on my blogs and reviews is good enough for me! Just for fun, let’s play a silly Valentine’s game. If you could give a Valentine to any video game character, who would it be? I think it would be fun to give a Valentine to maybe Cammy or Ulala or Samus or Princess Zelda.
Only bad thing about this batch of reviews is that aside from a couple of PC game reader reviews, everything else is an iPad game. I know some of you have expressed your disdain over iPad game reviews, and I do apologize for that. But keep in mind that it is the slow season for game releases, and it can be tougher to provide continuous content on the site. iPad reviews are easier and more plentiful to do, so that’s why I’ve resorted to doing this. I hope you understand. I promise that the next batch of game reviews will have a little more variety. OK, enough of that, on to the reviews!
While I have to say they weren’t very creative when they came up with this title and character, this is one of the better iPad games on this list. Your job is to jump on every single floating block over a body of water, but you can only jump left, right, or forward. Not backward. And you can also jump to blocks really far away, too. So you must plan your path carefully when jumping. If you enjoy puzzle games like Lolo, then you’ll like this one, too.
The Princess Bride: The Official Game (iPad)
It’s been a LONG time since I’ve seen The Princess Bride movie, and I don’t remember much about it. I know it had some funny lines and Andre the Giant was in it, but that’s all I remember. I know it has cult following, so while it seems kind of weird for them to make a game about it now, it’s not too surprising. The game is just a few mini-games based on scenes from the movie, and they’re not very fun at all. I did like the cartoon graphics, though, and I’m surprised they haven’t made a Princess Bride cartoon.
This is a neat touch screen game where you must use your finger to get rid of green dots and avoid yellow and red dots or you have to start the level over. The classic arcade aesthetics, cool music, and branching pathways in the levels reminded me of classic Taito games, if you know what I mean.
This is just a slot machine game from Adult Swim Games, but I have to say it’s more interesting than most. You have to play the slots to defeat ever-approaching aliens who are trying to take over Las Vegas. So it’s a slot machine with a point. At the very least, it held my interest a little longer than these kinds of games usually do. I don’t know why aliens would want to take over Las Vegas, though. I’ve been there once, I’m pretty sure they already have taken over! Ha ha!
The Incredible Circus Remix (iPad)
There aren’t enough good circus themed video games out there. In this one, you use the touch screen to fling a circus stuntman on trampoline slingshots so he can bounce his way past obstacles and onto the goal platform in each level. It kind of reminded me of a pinball or pachinko machine. Too bad it has many of the annoyances of free-to-play games.
This is one of those ‘roll your marble around mazes without falling off’ games. Normally I like these kinds of games (especially ones like Marble Madness or Super Monkey Ball). But horrible touch screen controls keep this one from being fun at all.
Reader Review: Super Comboman (PC)
My good friend Leroy reviewed this PC beat ‘em game from Adult Swim for me. I don’t think he liked it much, but check out his review anyway!
Reader Review: JumpJet Rex (PC)
Another friend of mine, Robbie, reviewed this retro styled game featuring a T-Rex with jetboots. Both Robbie and Leroy went to PAX South with me, and Robbie was eager to review games for me there, so expect to see more Reader Reviews from him in the future!
And that’s all for now! Again, thanks so much for reading and commenting on my blogs and reviews. Later! --Cary
