Power Rangers are still around. This annoys me, because frankly I never was a power rangers fan. Frankly there are just too many damn iterations and spin-offs and frankly I just want to get this over with. Today I present to you Power Rangers: Samurai.

Power Rangers Samurai follows the classic storyline of five teenagers who have each been assigned a different elemental power and trained under the samurai way of old. They get to face different monsters that threaten their city, and in the TV show it all culminates in a giant mech battle.

Power Rangers Samurai is a two-player beat 'em up...if you can find somebody else to play this with of course. You can easily fly this adventure solo. You select one of the five Rangers (each with a different elemental power assigned to their color) and embark on a mission that develops through different stages. Players can harness special powers that can be unleashed onto the enemies as well as find hidden goodies like clips. The game's biggest problem is how it constantly reuses the same settings and the same enemies. By the time you replay the same downtown level and beat on your 1000th bad guy, you'll wish for the game to be over.

You can swing the Wii Remote in different directions in order to complete the symbol that turns the characters into Power Rangers. However, once you do it over and over and over again...it quickly gets boring. And of course it wouldn't be Power Rangers without a giant mech battle!

Rather than being an awesome sparring match of giants, it is a timing-based affair. When the  controller icons land on the center of the screen, you either swing the Wii Remote to attack or the Nunchuk to defend an enemy's attack. Considering that this is one of the most exciting aspects of the franchise as a whole, it is disappointing that this is how the game does things.

The story is told through blurry screenshots from the show and character cutouts. Occasionally, they throw in some clips of the actual show, but they tend to repeat, often to the point where I wanted to tear my eyes out.

Power Rangers isn't necessarily bad, but it's so basic, so frustrating, so dull, and such a cash grab that it's hard to find any enjoyment...even if you are a fan of the show.

Review: That one power ranger nobody likes. You know the one.

Alright...what is going on the next review?

Ok yeah...sure...I don't care anymore. Bring the pain!

I loved the original Power Rangers and SNES games associated with it, and I liked how they rebooted its theme song for the new one. Too bad the game didn't live up to my youngster-self's hype based on those SNES beat-em-ups and the Zord fighter. I played those recently and they are still pretty fun for me.

Yeah it's similar to the old SNES beat em up titles, but it's not the same.

I think I reviewed this on the DS.  The new Power Rangers games aren't bad, but they're ony good if you're a young Power Rangers fan.  I never got into Power Rangers, but I did watch them with my little brothers, and they loved it. When I was a kid, I liked shows like Godzilla, Ultraman, and Voltron, so it's really not that much different.

Yeah. Maybe if I grew up with power rangers I'd have a different opinion...or maybe I'd be even more disappointed they didn't do more. Ya never know.

My kids were into power rangers and I thought it was an amusingly cheesy show. The fact that it's a cash grab doesn't surprise me.

It's a huge cash grab for bandai. It reeks of Money Mouth

I got that Ready 2 Rumble recently. I thought it might be a fun arcady sports game like I wanted Facebreaker to be. I have to get the earlier ones too.
