Train Conductor icon Don't expect any realistic simulation here! Train Conductor tasks you with getting numbered trains onto the watching numbered tracks by drawing tracks to connect the two. It's a simple concept but executed very well and things can get really hectic once a bunch of trains are going at once. It starts with just three tracks but I'm up to five now. You can tap a train to stop it, with another tap sending it on again, but you have to watch for anything coming behind it. Keeping the trains from crashing into each other can be difficult! That's an instant game over. If a train makes it across but is on the wrong track, you merely lose points. You don't have to "beat" a level to move on though. That just nets you an achievement for getting through your shift at that city without any crashes. The game is set in Australia (Blake should appreciate that lol) and the different levels are different cities. You have to achieve a certain cumulative score to move on, and it's visualized by laying track to the next city.

There is also the night shift. You play at the same cities but you're conducting ghost train, which can't run into each other but do move a lot faster. The occasional physical demon train speeds by too, and you have to get that one onto the right track or you'll be in trouble.

Train Conductor is a great game for touch screens. It's frantic enough to keep you engaged but simple enough to control with one finger. Definitely recommended. (Check it out on the App Store.)

It's kind of like that spider boss from Mega Man X2, but with Australian trains.

Kind of like that but also with less malevolence and destruction.

Many years ago I would go to an arcade called Nickel Mania.  It was an arcade with a bunch of old machines and everything only cost a nickel.  And a few were even set to Free Play.  Only downside is many of the machines were unmaintained.  But they had a couple of Japanese arcade machines from Taito there.  One was called Power Shovel, where you operated a construction vehicle and it was hard.  The other was one of their popular series of train simulators called Densha de Go!  I couldn't figure out how to play it, though, because of the language barrier and there were so many levers and things.

We had a place just like that called Nickel-a-Play! Man, I loved that place and was so sad when it eventually shut down.

Then you should probably also check out Pocket Trains Wink Though if I remember right, you don't have an iOS device new enough to actually play games...?
