Semi BAD: Spider-Man Unlimited

I don't really latch onto iOS games that much mostly because I hate touch screen controls and I'm pretty OCD on the battery life on my phone. It really bothers me when I dip past 50% on battery life. Well, for the past four months I've been playing Spider-Man: Unlimited on my phone. Its a temple run like endless runner that spices things up with combat, wall crawling up buildings while steering and with the accelerometer; web swinging with a touch of flappy bird like controls and a varity of missions and events. Its been a hard to put down since even though there are a lot of things that really bother with the game.

One is the freemium bullshit with the i-SO8 stuff which acts as currency for buying characters and upgrades plus continues. The second is how random the rewards system is; I don't want to spend 40 I-SO8's on a super rare Amazing Bag-Man. What I really wanted was Spider-Gwen or 2099 Spider-Man, so I can rank him up. The most annoying feature in Spider-Man: Unlimited is the Spider energy or lives; you get 5 lives when you first boot up the game. If you die, you can spend your iSO8 to keep going or replenish your spider energy. However if don't have any iSO8 gems, well you're shit of luck and you'll have to wait in real time for it to fill up again. That usually takes about 10 or 15 minutes. Which really sucks because my two year old nephew loves that game but he dies rather quickly and can't enjoy the game. Not mention that game is having performance issues as of lately. It seems to be stuttering with the frame rate and that sucks for these types of games that require quick reflexings.

The world of gaming changed while Claire was away; two bucks to continue, the game said while she tried to save her companion. Two bucks to continue.........

Even though I do enjoy playing this game with all its problems; it also highlights that pay to play bullshit practice and how its trying to seep its way into console and PC games. Just take a lot at the upcoming Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Raid mode. Apparently its going to use that type of system, were you can't play online with out earning coins or gems to unlock raid mode missions. Although it doesn't seem to affect the campaign mode in any way. It doesn't help that I'm the problem as well, I probably spent more than I had to on Spider-Man Unlimited; Christ, I hate myself.

Yeah, the only way to combat freemium bullshit is to not agree to pay for it.
