You know I have nothing against on rail shooters. The Wii had a lot of great ones.  Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, House of the Dead Overkill and even Disaster: Day of Crisis had fun on rails shotting mechanics mixed with adventure platforming/Quick Time events. So for every good  game there are so many bad ones. Games like Target Terror come to mind and that's what I review today.

Okay so let's begin with the plot. It's pretty simple really.  You'll be shooting terrorists attacking various places in the United States, including Denver Airport, the Golden Gate Bridge and Los Alamos National Laboratory.

After dispatching terrorists in these areas, you are sent to an airplane that has been hijacked. Then you must fight your way to the cockpit in order to stop the terrorists from making a suicide attack on the White House.

Now here's where I break the news. It's a crappy FMV on rails shooter in the same vein as Mad Dog Mcree.

You see a big problem is that this game was released in 2004 in the arcades. So of course Konami decided "Hey let's release this 4 years later on the Wii! Kids will never know when we take their $40 paper route money bwahahahahaha!"

I give Konami credit here. They knew what type of game they were publishing. Heck even the developers knew the type of game they were making. This is by all means a budget game. I'm guessing that most of the "actors" and I use that loosely are developers of the game. It's so cheesy...it's kind of hard not to chuckle a bit from the irony...or at least at it's tongue and cheek presentation.

Everything is bad bad about this game. Graphics and environments are laughable. Dialogue is laughable. The gameplay mechanics are seriously laggy and glitchy. If more than a couple bad guys enter the frame prepare for a chugging frame rate. Controls are also to be desired. The game is so bad it's awesome.

I can't recommend this game for any sane person. It's incredibly short. There are ten levels that takes 10-15 minutes to beat and a few time wasting mini games. However, if you're getting some friends together for a drunken laugh fest then by all means go crazy.

Analysis: RIGHT ON TARGET: If you're insane of course.

Okay so now what's on the agenda now?

I think I remember seeing some cabinets of Target: Terror when I was a kid. I think you also forgot to mention that the bystanders are also in hilariously animated FMV, complete with hammy acting and screams :P

You know what, I think you got a bit of slight interest out of me. This seems a the so bad it's good thing that reminds me of Space Mutiny.

I never heard of this game on Wii, but I do vaguely remember seeing it in arcades.  I reviewed another on-rails shooter on Wii that was in arcades that SEGA put out, but I forgot what it was called.  I'm surprised Namco never released their Point Blank games on Wii.  Seems like it would be a perfect fit.

Well Namco released other stuff. I figured they would do the Time Crisis series, but that's a Sony franchise

Valhalla Knights certainly looks appealing, but I'm half closing my eyes when I look at your review. I'm scared.
