I played the demo but didn't like it at all. I found the gameplay kind of dull and the game looks like it could have been made for PS2. Usually I wouldn't let graphics get in the way but I just started to glaze over even in the short demo.

So Square Enix put out this weird episodic adventure game called "Life Is Strange" and I played the first episode. It reminds me a lot of Alan Wake, except it has teenagers and no combat, but it takes place in North West U.S in a town similar to Alan Wake and the main character, a girl named Max has weird powers. She can travel between the real world and the dreamworld (Spoiler: and can also manipulate time.)
For the most part the game follows the mundanites of ordinary college life as you follow Max around campus and interact with characters in her school and elsewhere. The game plays similar to graphic adventure games like Telltale games, but it's not as dark. That was one of the problems I had with it at first. It isn't as violent or gruesome as Game of Thrones, Walking Dead or Wolf Among us which made it a bit disappointing. Most of the dialog revolves around dumb teenage stuff, but again--this is appropriate because this is what the game is trying to portray and there isn't much lore or background to any of it aside from the strange mystery behind the special powers that affect Max, but it's just the first episode so who knows what else there is to offer?
Overall, I enjoyed the first episode and laid back style and I'm interested to see how the whole story will play out, but it is pretty mundane though. The soundtrack is one of the best I've heard in a game in a long time. It's acoustic sort of indie music and I loved listening to it throughout the game. I played on PC.
Anyone else play this?
