"This world, which has the potential to be Eden is instead the hell before Hell. In our arrogance we have made it so." - Dean Koontz (Forever Odd)

This has nothing to do with the rest of this blog. It's just food for thought.

I was reading a short article containing Nintendo NA's excuse reasoning for not bringing the regular sized new 3DS Westside. Apparently it's because we're easily confused (or the general public is) so they wanted to have 3 distinct models, those being the 2DS, 3DS and New 3DS XL. Someone seems to have forgotten that we already have a Not At All New 3DS XL. What marketing school did this guy drop out of? Or is this a sign that the current 3DS XL is being discontinued.

Keep in mind that I don't give a rat's rectum about the regular sized 3DS. The screen is still too fucking small IMO.

Here's the quote:

Damon Baker, Nintendo's Senior Manager in Marketing and Licencing -

"Yeah (laughs). Look, the face plates are super cool, but we're a different market. And now we have clear differentiation between those three systems. Before, there was a very limited difference between the 3DS and 3DS XL: other than size. It was the same resolution, same functionality... now, there's the 2DS, 3DS, and New 3DS XL, all of which have their own functionality and features.

The different price points give it a clear message for consumers. The core audience... we weren't going to win with them on that decision. But we had to think about expanding the user base, we had to be able to market it and make it easy to pick up for consumers."

See you tomorrow Pixlbitallion. Have a panda.

I know Let's players are mad, the easiest system to record game footage in the 3DS family is the smaller ones. Atleast that is what their constantly spouting when being asked about recording. I'm betting the old 3DS XL will be discontinued. In Japan their discontinuing the smaller old 3DS. I'm not sure about the XL.

I forget who had the article and I didn't read it completely, but there was something somewhere about the shortage of New 3DS's going on, and it leading back to the port strikes in Cali.  Apparently there are shortages.  There were no New 3DS's when I went to bestbuy, so I went to Target and they had two.  I got the last power plug at target and bestbuy had none ("I can order one.  it will be here in six days," said the girl)

as far as the little model, ah fuck it.  I wouldn't want one.  But I guess there are people out there who do, especially cause of those face plates.  But if Nintendo really wanted to avoid confusion, perhaps they should have named it other than "New" 3DS.  I mean, come on.

Yeah and don't forget about the mass confusion that the Wii U name caused. Nintendo has been doing this kind of crap for years. How many different models of Game Boy and DS were there in the end?

That would be kind of confusing if you think about it.  Not everyone is a gamer.

I'm not in the market for a New 3DS right now, but if Capcom would redo and release Mega Man Legends 3 on the 3DS, I'd buy one instantly.

It sounds like they just want to sell the more expensive model here instead of having to ship the regular size and XL's. This sucks for the hardcore Nintendo fans who would have bought both. I'm still waiting to see if I need to "upgrade".

I love the size of the regular 3DS because it fits in my pocket so well, but yes, that screen is too small. I need that mongo beast that is the 3DS XL.
