Blake's Been BaD

Ah shit. I missed 3 days! My internet was down, so no blogging for Blake unfortunately. So what have I been up to? Well, work, mostly. I've been working 9 hour days that also have an hour and a half travel time both ways. So I'm out of the house for about 12 hours, which doesn't leave much time for anything else. Fortunately, I only work 4 days a week, so it ain't all bad.

In other news, I bought a PS4 motherfuckers! And there... really still aren't many games for it. I've got Killzone, Lords of the Fallen, Infamous: Second Son, and Little Big Planet 3. Bilby and I are getting tons of fun out Little Big Planet 3. It's stupid amounts of fun and it has Hugh Laurie in it. What's not to love?

Infamous: Second Son is the game that's been catching my attention most of all though. It's pretty darn great. Playing the hero feels satisfying, but sometimes I just want to way laste to every motherfucker I see. Doesn't look that great though. It looks about a little worse than Sleeping Dogs does on PC. I'm not too down on that, because look at last generation when it started compared to when it ended. Yeah, Saints Row looked like ass. Although, the series still kinda does.

Killzone is probably the prettiest in terms of power (LBP3 obviously wins in Aesthetics). I haven't played much of it, but I'm dying a lot in that game. Is it really hard or do I just suck at console shooters?

Finally Lords of the Fallen. I have a lot of gripes with this game, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to write a Plus 10 Damage article about it this week. It just does so many things wrong. Not enough to do a bad game, mind you, but if you're going to copy the greatest game of all time there are some things you need to get right. Basically, Lords of the Fallen is Dark Souls meets Darksiders, but it has some very noticable flaws that keep it from being as awesome as that sounds.

So yeah. That's me. What have you crazy cats been up to?

If Sony would make and release Loco Roco 3, I'd instantly buy a PS4 or Vita.

I'm getty dizzy just thinking about that game.

Congrats on the PS4. I assume your main reason for getting it is Bloodborne. I actually had the opposite reaction to Infamous though, thought the main game looked great, but gameplay was kind of meh. Not enough story missions or variety between side missions. Combat was fun, but not enough to carry the whole game.

Indeed. And really? Sure, the Parkour is broken as fuck and the video power isn't as cool as neon or smoke, but I'm still enjoying it. Granted, I'm only at the lantern district, but still.

It's the kind of game that just gets worse as time passes. I enjoyed it when I played it, but I have a hard time remembering anything about it and the game has a huge "That's it?" feeling at the end. Way too little content.

Yep, you followed Bilby down the no blog trail but you came back to that's the important thing.

Great that you go a PS4 but worthwhile games on that platform have still not reached critical mass. Of course LBP 3 would be one but I can get that on PS3 so no biggie.

Yeah, Bilby's not much of a blogger. She's mainly too busy playing this weird lion game constantly.

sorry man, I don't spank with my bare hands anymore.  I only use this spiked paddle.  Will that do?

For you, Matt, I'll take anything ;)

Congrats on the PS4! Have you seen this article? I've only played a few levels, but am having an absolute blast with it. I don't know if it works with Brutal Doom though. Undecided

Yeah I saw it haha. So it's good? I've been thinking of picking it up but I'm on very limited internet at the moment so I got to watch what I use.

Yeah. I'm getting my arse kicked a lot, but having a ton of fun. The music and weapons are pretty cool too. Just thought I'd mention it since I know your all about mods and stuff. That sucks about your internet. We take stuff like that for granted here in 'Murrica sometimes.

Congrats on the PS4. Infamous: Second Son is one of the few exclusives i'm interested for the console, although I wish to play the first two games.

Since you mentioned Lords of the Fallen, have you played Europe's (more especifically France) own take on Dark Souls, Bound by Flame?

I played a little of it on release but it was pretty broken tbh. I couldn't get past the first level it was that buggy.

And the Infamous series is pretty fantastic - especially number 2.

I had trouble with Bound By Flame too on Xbox 360. Not with bugs though, just with the fighting system.

I saw Infamous: Second Son for $35 the other day. Might get it, but I have to see what all I put on my credit card. Gotta watch that shit.

Little Big Planet games never really interested me for some reason.

Ooh! LBP3 has BOTH Stephen Fry AND Hugh Laurie!!! I know what I want for my birthday now! I'll get the PS3 version, though. You know my throughts on the matter, I posted them on your FB wall.

Indeed. And it's Hugh Laurie back to using his awesome native accent. I mean, I like House, but I prefer his British accent over his American one.

And the game itself is fantastic. Word of warning though: The load screens seem to take forever on the PS4 version, so I can't imagine what they'll be like on PS3.

OMG! It's Fry and Laurie again. Must play it!

Ah Fry and Laurie. I just loved that show.

Lucky bastard! I don't have a PS4 yet for the same reason you stated, not enough of a library for that pricey purchase. I am actually interested in playing GTA V because I've heard a lot of good things about it. Especially that the 1st person mode is supposed to be really great. I can't wait for Uncharted 4. I might wait until then to buy the system. Oh, and bloodborne and DS2 are coming to PS4 too! Cool

I stopped playing Lords. It's a pretender to the throne.  I couldn't get into it.  Even with its Dark Souls influence.... Still just not quite what I crave

Yeah I traded it in. It's servicable for non fans, I guess, but it has so many flaws. All of the enemies look the same, all of the locations look the same, I feel like I've fought all of the bosses in better games, and combat feels like it has no impact. I guess Souls just spoilt us.

I know more than a few people that picked up a PS4 this year.  I really hope I can pick up a PS4 this year too.
