Drivers are so bad in my area that I'm surprised schools don't shut down when it rains.
BaD XVIII: Don't Call It A Snow Day!

It's .... snowing here in Nacogdoches, TX. Did not expect to have to scrape any white stuff off my car when I woke up this morning, but here we are.
The university is still open, causing my Facebook feed to be full of students giving the finger to the safety department because they saw ambulances and fire trucks, skidded on the ice, whatever-have-you. As someone with Wisconsinite family, it is really not near as bad as they make it sound. The snow and ice aren't sticking, there's gravel on the road, and it's not that hard to drive in.
Having said that, Texas drivers are a hell of a lot different than other drivers and I'm only talking about my ten minute drive to work in the morning. There are other places with actual ice on the road apparently and not everyone lives as close to campus as I do. Honestly, I still think it's your personal choice to come or not and I doubt professors will be overly mad at students who have e-mailed them saying "look, I'm not commuting on a highway through ice for this." So I don't really side with the freak-out going on on my Facebook over this ... but I'll make it next week's editorial anyway, if everyone agrees to at today's meeting. Which will be super ironic because they'll have driven up here through the Evil snow. Yeah, the whole staff is supposed to agree yada yada, I just want to get this shit written and taken care of. I've got a couple other ideas for an editorial if it works better as a column though.
You can't see what is actually a fairly heavy snowfall in this picture because of my phone camera's abysmal shutter speed, but c'mon, this is not bad:
Granted these photos were taken from the university itself, so there very well could be folks with actual dangerous conditions on their commute. But I just want to know how hard you Northeasterners are laughing right now.
