Another Game Off Mount Backlog, PS4 Problems, And A Hotspot Mii

Good morning Pixlbit Nation, how is your Monday treating you? So far this whole losing an hour of sleep sucks but for some odd reason my body still woke up at 5am (I usually wake up between 5-6am). I’m not complaining about being able to wake up this early because this is the time I usually play some random game while listening to the local morning news show. Instead of playing a random game on the iPad, I instead focused on a new app where it collects various weekend ads from various stores in my area. Yep I did everything from looking at prices of the latest and greatest DVD/Blu-ray releases to checking the price of steak, for Meat Thursday. This aggregate list was helpful instead of me opening up a bunch of apps looking for their weekly ads. Anyways if you good people want to try it, the app is called Flipp.

Over the past week, I got to take two games off of Mount Backlog, well technically one was a full game and the other was the last available DLC. I also continued to make my way through a couple of other games and today once I finish up my projects I am going to choose another game to tackle.

Saw this on Reddit, and I relate to both panels even if 80% of my clothing options is usually just a t-shirt and jeans.

NBA 2K14 – PS4

The Super Knicks are 52-2 and I still have no idea how to rearrange rosters. I have a SG that I have given 20 minutes a game but yet doesn’t see the floor but another SG who only has 6 minutes is always out there. I wish if Game Developers found a solid way of making the game customizable, they should stop tinkering with what works.

Apotheon – PS4

This was a PS+ freebie and I finally got around to trying it out last week. First impressions was that it was very similar to Guacamelee in game design. I had a little problem trying to get down from certain sections in the beginning of the game but after trying a couple of different things I finally figured it out. I’m assuming there is a controls menu that I might have overlooked that would have given me the solution much sooner than my button mashing but at least I am moving forward in this game. Apotheon looks like it could be fun in short bursts and that is how I am going to play this game.

Lego Batman 3: The Squad DLC – PS3

Finishing this DLC was bittersweet because I got to play the newest content for one of my favorite games, but I also knew that this was the end of this game. I had so much fun with this Batman game because of all the new characters (and thanks to Arrow, I have an idea of who the majority of the characters are.)

I finished this DLC on Friday, and this wasn’t my favorite of the DLC packs but it was fun to play as the Suicide Squad. The funny thing about finishing this game is that I got an email from GameStop about trading in my copy of the game for $25 and I thought about getting the PS4 version and doing this all over again. Eventually I decided against it because I didn’t want to get Lego burnout especially when there are two new Lego games being released later on this year.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance – 360

So I started playing this game when I bought my 360 a little over a year ago but didn’t play it in all of 2014 (my game save said so.) I took it out a week or two ago and decided it was time to finish this game. I played through big chunks last week, and during the weekend I had the last two levels to finish before I got to watch the credits.

Overall I thought this was a fun game, with excellent cut scenes that once again I would watch if there were an animated movie like this. I don’t know if the storyline stays true to the comics but I liked it. I didn’t enjoy it quite as much the sequel, but to be fair maybe most of the excitement was based on the fact that I had a new PS3. I liked hitting certain points and then unlocking new costumes for the characters and I ended up using a lot of Wolverine, Ironman, and Thor. Thor was the shocker because I was never a big fan of his, but I liked the in game character. I felt Spider-man was an ass in the cut scenes so I didn’t use him at all. I think with the excitement over the Avengers flicks there should be a new Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

Call of Duty Heroes – iPad

My friend is hooked on this game and his description of it as a cross between COD and Command & Conquer; I knew I had to give it a try. When I first booted it up it felt very familiar and then it hits me that it was another one of these Castle Crashers/Star Wars Commander clones. You know the type, build your base, go on missions, get attacked by random players, invade other bases, rinse repeat. The only difference is that you can unlock heroes from the Call of Duty franchise (I have no idea what their names are, other than the Ghosts wear masks.) I played a mission or two and then uninstalled. I would have easily spent $4-5 on this game if it were just a Command & Conquer single player clone. I don’t need the multiplayer aspect because I don’t want to constantly check on my game.

Spider-man Unlimited

Last night I unlocked some Spider-man character from the Premium Portal for scoring a certain number on free run. I believe his name is Electro Spidey and it turns out I am three characters away from unlocking all the original content Spider-man characters

I still have a couple of in game achievements to unlock like score a million, reach Level 100 (I’m currently Level 72), and other various achievements. This might be the longest I’ve ever stuck with a runner game, and one of the reasons why is that the developers have votes on who the next character should be in the game

I went with Anansi the Spider God, because he looks cool.

Simpsons Tapped Out – iPad

Still going strong with the Superhero storyline along with an update that brings the limit to Level 50

And I unlocked a new building by earning enough Friend XP by visiting enough friends on my Friend’s List

Remember the episode where Lisa got her saxophone and Homer had to choose between the new Air Conditioner or a saxophone. Yeah I moved It Blows and placed it next to King Toot’s Music Store. Sax-a-ma-phone. Sax-a-ma-phone…

There were also new characters to unlock

Randoms

So you PS4 owners, have you run into this problem? After playing a game for an hour or so and you close the game, and try to head into the PS Store, does your console not load the PS Store screen? I found that this happened to me a couple of times and the only way to fix it, is to shut the system off and turn it on again. I’d like to blame the most recent update for this, because before the update I had no problems.

I saw this on Instagram and I thought I would share it with you folks who own a 3DS

It’s a special Mii character that I guess was available at Best Buy, so if you missed it just follow the instructions and too can have this Mii in your Mii Plaza

I better get a new puzzle piece!

Alright Pixlbit before I go, I usually save this stuff for Quick Hits on Friday but I wanted to share it today

My Aztecs are MWC Conference Champs and now own the record for most conference championships in basketball! I can’t wait for the MWC Tournament and Selection Sunday. The Aztecs are projected to be a 7th seed. The awesome thing about this game on Saturday Night was that the Student Section waited for Nevada to leave the court before storming the court and celebrating with the team.

Have a good week Pixlbit!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

that comic is hilarious.

I played Ultimate Alliance with my brother.  We had some fun with it, but we never finished it.  They should make a new one though.

Marvel UA is good but it seems it would be a lot more fun if played with another person. Sometimes the characters in your team would do something stupid which gets annoying at times.

COD Heroes looks interesting. I'll have to finish my Mii obsticle course right now before I can do the scan.

If I never played Star Wars Commander I would have jumped all over this game, but I got burned out on the whole genre especially when I had to always keep tabs on my base. I'm more into the games where I can leave my town/base for a day or two and not worry about it.

I know what you mean about that. Maintenance is not fun.

I scanned the QR code. That was neat. I think that's the first time I've done that.
