Guys, I'm serious when I say this, Resident Evil Revelations 2 is the best thing Capcom has done with the Resident Evil series to date. For one it is short, which I say  is a good thing. You don't have to put aside your gaming duties or life duties to play another long game. Episode one is like 2 hours and it will be over before you start, plus there is a Raid mode, which is a set of run and gun shooting mini games, basically Mercenaries mode, but it provides more replay value than the campaign. Honestly for $6 it is well worth purchasing.

This game is not afraid to experiment, and if you don't like it, well it's super short so you can't complain about it too much. Yes, forced AI co-op is back, but it's not as annoying as it was in 5 or 6. There is a new supernatural element to it and there is a lot of influence from, believe it or not, SILENT HILL. There is a bit of stealth mechanics added, and you will be safer for using them, but not necessary or hard to use. This game sends us back to a prison island similar to Code: Veronica including Claire Redfield and all, and its a standalone story, so you don't need to know about the first Revelations.

I honestly think the shooting and enemies are much better here than in the previous game. Altogether, I think the game is about $25 digitally and it's a really great improvement over the first game in my opinion. It's more of an action shooter with light puzzles and it experiments with gameplay and atmosphere that makes it all a bit more refreshing and dare I say FUN?

There are invisible enemies in the second episode and it definitely made me nervous as hell. Super good! Can't wait for the third and fourth chapters.

I may check this out after I beat RE:4, by which time the whole thing will have released I bet.

I think this game stands on its own. You don't need much reference to enjoy it. I don't think there is much of a connection to the first Revelations game honestly. I recommend you start the RE series with this one actually, it's very short.

Sounds like they took a few ideas from The Evil Within. Sounds pretty good, I loved the first one.

I fucking love this game! I know you will love it too! It goes back to what you were saying about how certain games are just better when they are short, and that is the case with this game. It isn't overly bloated like the console games, which I still enjoyed, but sometimes less is more.

You don't have to. And this is like $6 for the first episode or $24 for all 4.

I'm not a fan of the Resident Evil series, but I do like how some games are going eposodic content and I think this fits in with the survival horror genre. It gives you enough, and wanting more from the next release.

I'm playing Rev 1 currently, and the campaign sucks ass. No atmosphere, flat lighting, lame new characters. And they force you to play the campaign to unlock Raid mode stages. GTFO

Rev 2 is much better in every respect. Better setting, more atmospheric lighting, more dangerous enemies,Barry, zombies, no scanning bullshit,

Still, I think it's time to retire the RE4 paradigm of over-the-shoulder shooting gallery. It's rote. RE4 is now older than RE1 was when RE4 came out.  There have to be other solutions for horror, besides the binary of action game or adventure game.

I didn't love Rev 1, but its limitations were mostly due to it being on a handheld, thus repeated enemies(cheap bullet sponges) and kind of boring atmosphere with no variety. Rev 2 fixes a lot of those issues. It also borrows from Silent Hill, ZombiU and The Evil Within as much as it borrows from older RE games.

It's been a long time since I was looking forward to a RE game.  I really want to play this one.
