Film Snob Running Like Pac-Man in "Maze Runner"!

Okay, so I got around to watching another YA novel turned to film called "Maze Runner" and it wasn't all that bad.If you've played Pac-Man or at least seen the game in any capacity then you'll get the premise of the film, except in this film Pac-Man wants to escape the maze forever. Actually, I was kind of surprised at how the film just got right to the middle and end parts withough giving any kind of beginning? I don't know when or where this maze takes place aside from the fact that everyone speaks English and its a distopia movie, I assume it takes place in the far future or a parallel universe or whatever.

Movie starts off with fresh sacrifice "Thomas" being lifted by elevator into a grassy arena full of teenage boys. Michael Jackson eat your heart out. This "arena" is surrounded by very high walls that can't be climbed for some reason, and there is a gate that opens up on one side every morning leading into a maze. There are only a few boys called "runners" whose job it is to run through the gate and into the maze to find an exit--and this has been going on for 3 years, and they haven't found the exit yet. If the runners don't make it back to the entrance by night fall, the gates close and they'll be trapped in the maze with giant monsters and probably die.

Just like in any video game, when runners die, more step up to take their place and the cycle is repeated. Aside from that there is some typical social political thing that goes on with teens as it always does in every young adult teen film. It's us versus the outsider sort of thing. The film is also surprisingly dark. I'd say it's much darker than Divergent and Divergent is much darker than Hunger Games which I found refreshing, but kind of odd. A lot of kids die in this move which made me feel kind of weird. I hate kids and violence for some reason. Maybe I'm not used to seeing it often I guess?

I liked the movie over-all. Not a classic by any means, but I am interested in seeing the sequel now. Maybe I'll get into the books I don't know.

Oh, and this. See that little tower on the left, they could have built something like that along the wall and just walked over the top of it, LOL!

Never saw Maze Runner but the title did sound like Pac-Man.

I saw this one a couple months ago.  It's not bad.  When it ended, I was ready to see what happens next.

Same here. I was just waiting to see what was on the other side the whole time. I thought some parts were kind of fun, like when they're all fighting the monsters in the village or whatever. Pretty entertaining.

I still need to read my copy of Divergent, but I might watch this if I see it at Red Box or something.

When I first saw the trailers I just figured it was another story with teens fighting for their lives and trying to cash in on Hunger Games, and Divergent, and didn't think much of it. I'll probably check it out once it hits one of the movie channels
