I have all the physical Bloom County compilations and they are great.

If you never experienced Berkeley Breathed’s sense of humour you owe it to yourself to at least grab the pay what you want volumes. Yeah they may mean more to the older Picklebits here because some of the political and pop culture references are older but this is still funny stuff. If you don't know what is going on there's this magical thing called Google so you can get caught up.

Breathed graduated from the same college as I did.

That is beyond cool Cary. That college obviously produces smart people. :)

I have a couple of them.  not all.  i was a little young for some of the political references at the time, but I still loved Opus and stuff.

I have all of the physical books, including Billy and the Boingers Bootleg, which came with a floppy vinyl 45 in it. That comic strip was brilliant. One of my favorite strips was Opus watching late night TV and ordering 5000 Ronco combination prune pitter-plum splitters (or whatever they were called). And Steve Dallas in a rock video catching his chest hair on fire in an obvious Michael Jackson spoof.

Yep, I have the Billy and the Boingers Bootleg too. Never attempted to play the floppy vinyl though.

We did. It's nothing special. You're not missing anything.

I remember reading that stuff in the 80s. I used to have some of the books too. I used to think Berkeley Breathed was just a pen name for Gary Trudeau but it's just that Bloom County looks very similar to Doonesbury.

Yeah it does look similar to Doonesbury. I thought that at first too. We were obsessed with Bloom County. We actually have a whole box of Bloom County Christmas ornaments but my wife won't put them up anymore. :(

Those ornaments sound super cool. I say, every Xmas, for sure.

I also had a stuffed Opus wearing reindeer antlers but my wife left him at the curb after a yard sale and wouldn't let me bring him home. :(

I was a little kid when this was in funnies back in the day.  By that time I knew it as "Outland".  I didn't understand all of the strips, but I always thought Opus was a cool characters.  I also like that crazy cat dude...can't remember his name though.

I was more of a Calvin & Hobbes kid back then.
