Now this is a 360 game thats been out for a while now,and a word of advice if your not a fan of sims or the discovery channels show, then more then likely you might as well check something else out cause this is not for you, Now on the other side of the coin,if your looking for something off the beaten past, a sim a very slow at times sim, or a fan of the show then this may be the relaxing game from the norm you need.

Deadliest catch Alaskan Storm is a simulation game for the pc or xbox 360, its developed by Liquid Dragon Studios and published by Greenwave Games, the game was created by Northwestern Games yes the crew from the show the Northwestern, and yes the game is based on the TV show Deadliest Catch, the game throws you into the boots of a bearing sea captain, where you must carefully plan your fishing trip, everything from hireing a crew,to how  many pots to bring, how much fuel, how much bait and it all cost money, and as you get more money and a trip under your belt you can repair your ship, upgrade your ship or just buy another ship, and when you start out you can pick from seven boats from the series but you can name it ,paint it or put your own logo on it,its very customizable.

After leaving dock you have a very intuitive map to set waypoints and check survey reports, weather and where the ice packs are during Opillio season and yes you have two seasons just like in the show, you have king crab and opillio seasons, each one with there own set oof weather issues.

So you pick where you want to set your pots as seen on the above pic,and you can speed up time to get to where you want without waiting forever to get there. also as seen on the above map the red is where the survey predicts the majority of the crabs to be,so you drop your pot and in 24 hours go baqck and pull the pots and the animatiom on the boat shows your crew throwing for the pots loading and sorting crab and ask you whether you want to reset or stack your pots.

So at any rate depending on the difficulty you choose decides how many engine failures or man overboard or whether or not a rouge wave flips you over, you can place calls to other boats call the coast guard and watch an injured deck hand get air lifted off your boat so its a very tight sim,

Theres also an online mode to where you and five other boats compete for who gets the most crabs then if you want you can play missions which is just different missions from the movie, then you have a hook throwing mini game and a skiff run which is you in a motor boat beating the set time on an absticle course theres alot to offer in this game, and like I said this is a required taste and not for everyone but if it sounds fun then by all means get it I love it and still play it to this day.  3.5 out of 5

I usually hate sims, but this game actually sounds interesting. If I ever find a demo and something to run it on, I'll try it out.

That looks really amazing. I like how some TV networks are doing games now. The History  Channel is doing some too. This one looks like they really put in some effort to get it right.

I'm not too into sims, but this looks pretty good.  It's nice to see a game like this, modeled after a TV show, is not a disappointment.
