So if you keep up with news in the video game world you have probably heard about Kojima leaving Konami. From rumors of a falling out between the 2 to him just wanting start something new has surfaced. Now he will stay on board for Phantom Pain, but passed that point is when he speculated to leave. I'm highly concerned over this. Konami still plans to release more Metal Gear games passed his departure not to mention Silent Hills is in a state of darkness since there is not a single light shed on it. I'm saddened by the news but also happy for him because to me it seems he is ready for something new. So what yall think? Think metal gear can live without Kojima? Will we still get Silent Hills or is it gone with his departure?

I don't know. It seems like sometimes old franchises just need new blood for a change, like FF7 Crisis Core, FF15 and Type 0. I'd like Kojima to work on something new.

True but I'm severally worried about Silent Hills. I was very excited about him and Guillermo del Toro making it together. Now I don't think it's gonna happen.

I haven't been interested in Konami since they bought out Hudson Soft and then squelched them.

I don't really pay attention sometimes to developers unless they do something very messed up. It's more or less the game that makes me interested in purchase.

Does he or Konami own the rights to those properties?

No, Konami owns the rights especially to silent hill. I kind of thought he owned Metal Gear but apparently not.

It does suck, but I'm still surprised anyone goes through Konami given some of their previous decisions, such as blacklisting reviewers who gave their games bad reviews, budget cutting games halfway through and other sketchy stuff. They've kinda sucked for quite some time. I do hope this doesn't impact MGS:V or Silent Hills though.

I didn't even know about that stuff, that's effing crazy! I think metal gear 5 will be okay, Kojima is to stay on until it's finished. Passed that point however who knows. Silent Hills I'm worried about :(

I'm worried about Silent Hills.  Who will step up to to try to realize all the potential that the P.T. demo showed, or will Konami just kill the project now that Kojima is gone?

As for Metal Gear, Kojima seems to have wrapped up the narrative to his own satisfaction, so that's a plus.  Maybe a new direction will be beneficial to the IP, but Konami doesn't exactly have the most stellar track record in finding replacements for their departed talent and keeping their series relevant, but who knows?  Maybe Sony will let them borrow Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley (of Last of Us and Uncharted fame) in exchange for a ps4 exclusive Metal Gear.

I'm hopeing if Guillermo del Toro stays on the project that maybe it will be saved even if Kojima is replaced. Guillermo has been doing pretty good of late with all things horror. Though if Kojima is gonna be a contract worker maybe they will keep him hired for it. Im wondering how metal gear will be passed 5. A new direction could be really great or a disaster.
