Gaming:

Today I'm going to talk about 4 games and some methods they use to preserve my progress. I will explore how I use each system, and see if I can observe any influences they may have on my play-styles. More importantly I want to know how you play your games. As an aspiring level designer and play-test analyst, one of the things I love to do the most is experiment, study games, and study people. I always want to see how gamers interact with various systems and designs, collect data, and hopefully learn something from the results.

Attention all planets of the Solar Federation, we have assumed control. So it has come to an end, this is the final entry of the music series I started last month. Apollo and Dionysus raged their war of logic and emotion atop Olympus the entirety of the month, but finally dear Cygnus, the brave space explorer, has intervened and brought balance to the cosmos that is my blog. If you're completely lost on all the Rush references I'm making, it's not going to get any better for you. Pop a Xanax, get loose, and hop into my spaceship (Yeah, I know what the ladies like).

In my previous installment of this series I detailed some metal bands, guitar tones, and styles that I love to play on guitar. Even though that kind of music is very loud, fast, and brutal, it's also very demanding and requires discipline, mountains of practice, and respect for musicianship. Despite sounding very savage, the metal music I showed you demands a level of civility and sophistication to do it well. With this entry in my music series I'm going to go down a notch in the sophistication scale, and devolve into the realm of punk rock by showing you some songs I love to play and why the styles are important to me.

Last week I started this short series on music and guitar playing. I promised that I'd keep on it and wrap the series up before long, but I forgot that this week was E3 and so for the past few days I've been busy watching disappointing press conferences and doing my duty as a gamer. Since the expo is done now, I've convinced myself to get on back to my blogging.

Music is something I never talk about around here. It's actually something I don't talk about in real life either. This leads to a lot of mystery, and many people either have no idea what kind of music I listen to, don't know whether or not I even care about music, let alone if I play any instruments. Recently my friend Aaron (aboboisdaman) over at 1UP.com wrote a blog about bass players he likes, as well as songs he likes to play on bass guitar, and it inspired me to put together a blog series about my own musicianship, and music that inspired the style I developed.
